I listen to the Basement Demos more...I think the actual name is like Dave's Moms basement Demos, or something like that...

I always thought it was Rudebaga...at least that's what it says on my iPod (it's my brother's old one, so he put it on there.)

But yes, I do listen to the Rutabega sessions frequently. I like One Sweet World and Cry Freedom especially.

I know how that goes, no sweat man. What are these "basement demos"? I don't think I have heard of them.

    Notes:
This is a compilation of several basement and studio demos from 1991, as well as two early live tracks. Thanks to Jake Vigliotti for added insight into these dates.

    * This is a Dave solo basement recording from around 1-2/91. This is the only known recording of this song.

** This is a full band demo recorded in a basement around 2-3/91, before Boyd & Peterjoined the band. This is the only known recording of I'll Back You Up with the entireband playing. The last few seconds of The Song That Jane Likes are cut off.

    # Boyd was asked to sit in with the band's rehearsals in order to record a demo of Tripping Billies around 3-4/91. This is that demo. Boyd joined the band permanentlyabout a year later.

$ The first three tracks of this demo are Dave solo, and the second two are with the full band (including Peter). This demo is probably from a studio around 12/91 orearly '92. The end of Two Step seems to be cut off on this recording.

@ These are two Dave solo live tracks from late '90 or early '91, probably from Miller's.He mentions that he is playing alone, alluding to the possibility that a band will join him shortly. This was most likely recorded prior to a TR3 show for which Dave sat in.

    and this one:

    DMB 1990-93 Demo
    Various studio demos.
    ******************************
DO NOT ENCODE INTO LOSSY/MP3 FORMATS!

    1. Song That Jane Likes (XX.92?)*
    2. Recently (XX.92?)*
    3. The Maker (8.12.91)**
    4. People People (8.12.91) *&
    5. Warehouse (8.12.91) Chicken Lyrics **^

    7. Warehouse (2.93)***
    8. Pay For What You Get (2.93)***
    9. Lie In Our Graves (2.93)***
    10. Rhyme & Reason (2.93)***
    11. Kind Intentions (#32) (2.93)***
    12. Granny (2.93)***
    13. Granny (Love! Baby) (2.93)***
    14. Two Step (08.12.91)**

*From a demo with Dave, Greg Howard, Kevin Davis, and John D'Earth. It's Date is approximately 1-2.91 (judging by the lyrics, specifically Recently),but NOT the 11.90 demo. this is certain. The 11.90 Demo does not exist in trading circles at all.
** Sounds like a studio demo from around that time.
*& Live, unknown location, but probably Eastern Standard or Trax
**^ 1st stanza lyrics deal with a chicken. No kidding.
*** These all sound like they are from the same studio demo sans Boyd. Judging by the lyrics 2.93 is a good rough estimate to the date. Note Nancies is also on this demo. Copies of this demo w/o Nancies are more common. There is a bit of a debate to whether of not Nancies belongs here (it contains Peter on keys, which the other tracks don't), but the original analog copy contained Nancies, so we'll include it with those tracks.

Fans traded this 'show' under the name "1990 demo" in the old days. That name changed to "1990-93 demos" around 2000. Even though there is nothing 1990 about it, we're still calling it that.
