Jesus some of you people are ridiculous. You realize these are probably the shows with as much unreleased stuff as possible for a release, right? You realize they are fantastic shows, right? I don't understand how any fan of Dave Matthews can be upset over this stuff.

    People like myself?

That's a pretty broad generalization there. Seeing as how you have no clue what I do or do not like.

I get that people EXPECTED full band shows, but get over it! What's the difference if its a Live Trax release vs. DMBLive vs. another live album ala Radio City or Red Rocks? I understand expectation and not having them met, but for goodness sake, this isn't the last live music this band will ever put out and its not like a studio album not sounding the way people expected. There are PLENTY of live albums already available and an entire archive of shows yet to be sorted thru for release. More full band shows will come. And when they do, the same people will probably be disappointed that it'll have another version of Jimi Thing or Two Step. Just enjoy the fucking music.

    I disagree.

    YES.

I almost feel bad for them because its ridiculous that good shows (ESPECIALLY THESE ONES) from great artists are seen as a disappointment on any level.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
I'm 100% fine with the shows. I said earlier that I thought they were cool shows - no doubt about it.

But I do understand that people have the right to be a little disappointed when they'd rather have full-band shows over D&T.

LT24 cover = Luther College back picture.

And yeah, I'm sooooo excited about these two. So many of the first official versions of acoustic songs + more than 4,5h of music and everything in the 90's climate. Can't wait to get these two gems.

idt that is at all true, D&T still play shows together (albeit not all that many), they're not some defunct band that there's no reason to promote, i'd be ok with d&f i guess, but make that like a dmblive or something, way too many good shows by DMB that need releasing.

But seriously, I find it amazing that it seems the majority of discussion about these releases is negative.

    Why, you wonder?

The cover art is not from the exact date of the show, and after 20+ DMB shows, we got two of the best Dave and Tim shows in history... so some would "prefer full band releases".

Some of you people are real assholes. It's no wonder why Dave has expressed disdain, albeit tongue-in-cheek, about hardcore fans.

You can be disappointed in whatever you damn well please. I will however make these two points:

    1. You say that you're disappointed that these are not 2 full band shows. Were you really expecting TWO shows to be released at once? I doubt it.

    2. Whatever team made the decision to release these two shows obviously made a conscious effort to give us as many songs that have not yet been released as possible. Many of these are D&T/Dave solo only: Hold Me Down, Dreamed I Killed God, Tangerine, Weight of the World, Is Chicago Is Not Chicago save ONE full band performance. Would you really rather another show with the umpteenth versions of the songs we've seen time and time again? This is an effort to give us something totally unique and the number of people that are shitting all over it is astounding.

Im stoked for these shows. Haven't given a shit about the LT series since 7, I will most definitely buy these. Those that are disappointed or wanted another DMB show as if the first 22 weren't enough...well, sucks to be you!!

If the shows were sub-par D&T shows, I think there's some room for complaint. However, these are some of the best D&T shows there are. So it's pretty damn close to complete bullshit to be disappointed.

I don't post much here anymore--old school fan, but these releases have brought me out of my stagnation. When I saw this email I instantly purchased a bundle without thinking twice. With this combo and the cville run, it's setting up to be a great holiday season! Cheers!

Vegas sounds as if they're playing some Chinese instruments.

Couldn't agree more . I think Dave's HD-28 and DM3MD guitars sound great on the Radio City CDs. I wish he would play those guitars at every acoustic show. Plus those versions of Bartender, Crush, 41, and Two Step sound incredible. Everyone has their opinion, but I listen the Radio City more than the Vegas shows, and I was at Vegas. Both are great shows, but I don't see anything wrong with RC.

Oh and these two LT releases are everything I could have asked for. Already have a great taper pull from 1999 (3-13-99), so I couldn't be happier with a 96/97 D&T release. Great stuff here.

This is weird. Good weird, but weird.

Better than another 96/97 DMB show, that's for sure. At first I only saw the years and out loud I said "what the fuck " Then I saw they were both D&T and thought "well that's hell of a lot better"

The hater in me has to point out however: they could have done a lot better if They kept the 1997 show and added 3-13-99...instead of the 96.

Better yet, if they're going to do two LT's at once, give us the better of the D&T shows (or 3-13-99) and a prime DMB show from '00-'04 (I know, Butch). Two D&T's seems like overkill. They will never make everyone happy, but it might have helped. We are greedy bitches...

That being said, I just pre-ordered the bundle

Thrilled about these releases. LC remains one of my favorites they've released, but mainly because of the mix and time it captured. This 96 set is better than LC, and so if they hit the mix right, I imagine it will surpass LC. Excited about the 97 show, too. A lot of unreleased and rare material from both shows.

So far, in terms of Dave and Tim releases, Boone might still be my favorite. But love LC and Radio City. Vegas isn't bad, but some of the new songs don't carry the way the other shows' song selections do.

Seriously? There's pretty much a SBD quality taping of that show out there already.

After 22 full band releases it was time for some classic Dave and Tim. Seriously, that era of D+T show is so much better than anything from the 2000's.

Maybe people prefer DMB to D&T and would rather see more full-band releases?

My reaction to this? I've said they were good shows. You're everything that's wrong with this site, since apparently you can't fucking read.

If you read the full thread, you'd note that I had said that I wasn't a huge D&T fan, so of course I fucking hate Live at Luther!!!! Oh wait, no I don't. I think it's a decent release. Excuse me for "being everything that's wrong with this site" because I don't get a fucking hard-on for D&T shows, no matter the set.

My reaction is this - Cool shows. I can see why some people are disappointed, as they'd rather have full-band shows. My angst, no bitching.

Would you really rather another show with the umpteenth versions of the songs we've seen time and time again? This is an effort to give us something totally unique and the number of people that are shitting all over it is astounding.
    1. At any given time would you have expected two D&T shows to be released at the same time? I understand what you're getting at...but it's completely invalid. Two shows were released. To some people two full-band shows > two D&T shows.

    2. Hey, like I've said, I have absolutely no problem with these shows. I think they're good shows. It will be cool to get DIKG and Hold Me Down.

Once again, I think they are cool shows. I have absolutely no problem with them. But I don't think it's bullshit for people to be a little disappointed about getting D&T when they wanted DMB. Some people (like myself) don't get that excited for D&T releases, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Yep, that's what I meant . Wrote it in the morning, half-dead after 4 hours of sleeping.

Btw, I like the idea of 2 LT's at the same time. You can save on S&H

It doesn't get better than Luther for 96 D&T....same as it doesn't get better than Red Rocks for DMB 95.

The 3-13-99 tape is LOUD, but its not good by any means. A Live Trax quality release of it would be outstanding.

All that aside, this is still a fantastic release by the band.
