Why book hotels so early? I'm just curious for those who are booking now.

EDIT - didn't think about refundable hotels, I'm sure you guys probably booked refundable rooms and were smart about it. I usually don't spend the extra to book refundable rooms, I'm a cheap ass.
This is exactly what I do. If tickets aren't available, I can just cancel. Rates will get higher as we get closer to show. At least that's what's happened in the past.

It's $144 with parking included. Was it in a decent area for walking?

Because I work in a hotel and grabbed the discounted room when it was available. No charge and can cancel by 6pm day of arrival. Does me no harm to book now.

If you're coming from out of the area, I strongly recommend taking BART and getting off at the 19th Street station in Oakland. The Paramount Theater is a very short walk from there.

Oakland's like any other city. There are good and bad parts. I'd classify this area of town as one of the better parts.

I stay at the Marriott City Center every week for work. This is a clean part of town and the walk will be fine. There are great bars and restaurants on 10th and 9th streets which are between 1 and 4 block walks.

Highly recommend El Gusano for Mexican food and the District for drinks (try the District Buck).

Anyway, for out of towners, I would recommend staying in SF simply because there's more to see and do when you're not at the shows. Follow the eastern boundary of the Presidio and draw a line straight south - stay east of that line. Anything west will be cheaper but very far and residential (and foggy).

Transportation: you can do just fine here with Uber/Lyft. Bart is fine, too, but don't expect NYC level convenience in stops or DC level cleanliness.

Remember to check AirBnB as the options there can be way cheaper than a hotel room. Whatever you do, DO NOT stay in the Tenderloin!!

Been to San Francisco a bunch of times, and some of the best times I've had have been in the Tenderloin. Some great dive bars in there.

I can't wait to watch people bitch about scalpers, then buy from them. That was priceless for the New Orleans shows.

It's still pretty good. Not as good as in So Cal though. Although, the best taco I ever had was in Sacramento of all places.

Rather than staying nearby, would it be best to stay a car-ride away, and then park near the venue the nights of the shows?

What is the parking like near the Paramount Theater? safety? cost?

    Thanks for your help -

I plan on staying near the Oakland Airport.

Ride BART from the Airport to 19th St for the show(s).

Can ride into San Fran during the day as well.

The best part about home shows, especially shows as special as these, is that while everybody else is in here like "which hotel you gonna stay at?" and "what's public transportation like from the airport to the hotel to the venue, etc.," I'm just here like "boy that 30-40 minute drive to and from is is gonna be soooo tough.... but oh wait, I get to sleep in my own bed each night and have a nice decompressing cozy session with my dog while showering in my own shower and just, oh you know, BEING HOME!"

Were Warehouse members able to request tickets for both nights in NOLA last year? I only requested tickets for one show and am not sure, and I seem to remember talking to some people at the show in NOLA who said Warehouse only let them request one night. Any truth to that?

We stayed there for the Berkeley shows. It's a solid hotel and that area is not bad at all. We were walking around late and felt totally comfortable. There's a small grocery store right across and some good bars and restaurants right there too. I saw this venue while walking around and it seems easily walkable from the Marriott.

I'm not sure if I'll go this time, but booked rooms there for now just in case.

That Courtyard is right across from the ^ Marriott to give an idea of what the area is like.

It could have also been that, Live Nation only allowed 2 tickets total across the 2 NOLA shows...so either a pair for one night, or a single for both nights

I'll be requesting tickets tomorrow to sell here to anyone who gets declined.

The only worry I have is somebody taking the tickets and flipping them on eBay for a profit. Hopefully everyone will be honest about buying tickets.

I guess if somebody took my tickets and flipped them and WH tried to say anything to me I could show them that I sold them for face value and the buyer did something with them from there.

(it's sad we have to think about these things nowadays)

There's a small grocery store right across and some good bars and restaurants right there too. I saw this venue while walking around and it seems easily walkable from the Marriott.

I'm not sure if I'll go this time, but booked rooms there for now just in case.

That Courtyard is right across from the ^ Marriott to give an idea of what the area is like.

If any of you are beer geeks, there's a great place called Beer Revolution in Jack London Square. I would highly recommend it!
Perfect - thanks for the info. Appreciate it.

It's mostly street parking in the area, so a lot of metered parking. However, I think most of the meters stop around 6 p.m.

Safety wise, I wouldn't leave anything valuable in the car just to be on the safe side, but I don't think you have to worry about it being stripped for parts while you're seeing the show.

I know I said it earlier on this page, but unless people have a serious thing against public transportation, BART is the smart way to go. According to the venue, the 19th Street station is a 500-foot walk away.

I guess if somebody took my tickets and flipped them and WH tried to say anything to me I could show them that I sold them for face value and the buyer did something with them from there.

(it's sad we have to think about these things nowadays)

I'm sure plenty of people you know and trust on here will be in need of tickets.

I will hopefully be making the trip. New Orleans was great last year.

I have plenty of airline miles and hotel points to make this work.
