2014 is definitely my least favorite year, not a fan at all...going to be optimistic and hope for a June '13-esque tour next year along with some new tunes and surprises. Really turned off to the whole 2-sets idea though.

two set was a great idea in thought but poorly executed. they missed so many chances with the acoustic set. each set should have had a unique feel to it. YNK, Pig, Grey St, Raven....you can go on and on with the songs that were neglected from the acoustic set that should have shined.

    Bingo
Totally mailed it in instead of rockin it
They could have seriously made new fans and brought back old had they done it right

One of the things that makes no sense about the 2 sets - lot of people call it a failure or poorly executed because of what was not played. But what WAS played was terrific.

    Terrific, no
A couple of songs were terrific, most were ok to good.
IMO carter should have used more hand drums/hands and Tim should have had more d&t style solos vs just fills and many ok to good would have moved to terrific.
They have not been using Tim right for yrs though so it's no shock they didn't here. Cater and the rest was just lack of interest and practice. Heck carter never even saw his rig till the week before the tour

I completely agree with you here. What's worse is people don't realize how talented he is. Iv seen him play some pretty techinally driven solos. He doesnt even scratch the surface when he plays with DMB. Although, when he first joined in 08. Him and Leroi were a perfect match. It was more jazzier. Busch Stadium makes me sad listening to it sometimes cause I just miss Roi's slow and smooth jazz. He didn't have to play hard to play loud if that makes sense. Plus Tim at the time understood how he played and knew how to compliment him.

Still love Jeff though. Hes a monster.

failure does not equal poorly executed. sure, recently shined, typical had a few plays, PFWYG dropped off the face of the earth, while ants billies and LIOG were (rightfully so) acoustic staples of the tour.

each set really should have been unique. a bunch of different songs every night, going 7-8 shows without a single repeat, or if you're repeating some, use the songs that sound great reworked acoustically (Stolen away, Billies, even Two Step was loads better acoustically (and shorter))

too many covers also fell in the acoustic set. 8-9 songs to shine your best material, and they play other people's material. the only awesome acoustic cover they did was Watchtower, and it was dave solo so that doesn't even really count.

This song should not get brought back for many reasons.
    1. Doesn't need a fucking trumpet or tim
    2. They don't play with the same passion or soul as the 92-93 versions
    3. BT while once the best member in the band at any given night is now the weakest link every night

Boyd may have had the best stage presence in the band, but I don't think he was ever the best player in the band.

Also the video in your signature is fantastic. It had been a long time since I heard that.

    1. I think Tim would be good on it with Stefan. Reynolds knows the song too.

    2. Isn't a valid reason. I don't think anybody would expect it to sound like it did back then. It's not like if they play the song now the song is devalued and won't sound good. Rarity is only what people make of it. If they played it now I'm sure it would be a monster song that doesn't sound like early version and I'm completely cool with that and honestly what I would want. A different twist on one of my favorite songs. Plus I've seen dave play with emotion fairly recently so I don't think that's fair either.

    3. Boyd can deliver in short spurts ("spurt-ability is what I call it") plus his solo in Blue Water is slow and methodical. It shouldn't wear on him and he should be able to avoid the skreetch.
