I didn't. I though I recognized the guys as agents. I could be full of shit. But I see where y'all are coming from.

Opening scene was the most interesting part to me.

My guess is Walt's cancer goes into remission again, and he's back on the post-treatment coughing pills (which we saw in the 5a finale in the bathroom at Denny's). I am 100% convinced at this point that he does, in fact, use Saul's guy and disappears to NH. However, I now believe that he fakes his own death from the cancer, his status as a druglord is made public, and he becomes a sort of drug world legend (hence the "Heisenberg" spray painted in the living room). This would also explain Carol's utter horror at seeing him. She didn't look like she was just shocked to see a known criminal; it was like she was staring at a ghost.

Good theory chad. I don't think that happens because it doesn't explain why they know he is Heisenberg.

I just don't know how you get from

    A. Walt fakes his own death
    B. people know he is Heisenberg
    C. House is condemned

Unless you go with something absurdly bad like hank tells Walt " you are going to die right now and admit your crimes" which would be the biggest pile of shit ever.

Nope. The most important part of tonight IMO was hank saying "family doesn't matter"

Walt crippled him. Embarrassed him. Almost had him killed. He knows that. Hank is as much of a tough son of a bitch as Walt is a killing son of a bitch.

This is going to be an incredible ending. They are going at it.

While it doesn't explain the house being abandoned, I could see that as the kind of thing Jesse might do if he believes Walt to be dead.

I completely believe that he fakes his own death though. It's the only thing that would explain Carol's reaction. If she knew him to be a wanted fugitive, she might just run into the house. The utter shock and dropping the groceries when he spoke tells me she thought he was dead.

The groceries made me think about the Rolling oranges that happened with Ted. I think you are over thinking. It reminded me of someone seeing someone that shouldn't be there. And in this case a known fugitive. Idk.

    Oranges = death.

I think we'll get A LOT of color fakeouts from here on out.

We'll see. If Walt did, in fact, disappear using Saul's guy, people would have questions. Also, Walt still cares a ton about his family. Faking his death instead of just running solves two dilemmas - no one is surprised that he's not around, and Flynn doesn't think his father abandoned him (ties into Lydia begging Mike to let her daughter find her body, because she didn't want her to think she just ran off without her).

We've already been getting them in this show. The Ted oranges were a fake out (a really dumb fake out, IMO).

I don't know if they'll ever admit it but I think Ted was meant to have died in that scene, and they later changed their mind and brought him back for ~reasons~

I never thought about it that way. That sauls guy could do the death thing.

    I think what happens is

    1. Everyone finds out who Heisenberg is. Just no way hank puts up with it.

    2. Walt uses sauls guy.

    3. To compare this to the other anti-hero show Jesse is going to make me cry more than Lemonhead. This is going to be much sadder and much woes. I just know it. One will be a surprise. The other (Jesse is like a cancer patient. If you have ever dealt with one you see them slowly dying in front of you and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Jesses death is going to be miserable just saying.)

I really liked how Walt was playing it relatively straight until Hank said that being family didn't matter. It was like a light switch where Walt went immediately dark. Hank could see it too which was why he said "I don't even know you." Cranston also did an amazing job showing a hint of perverse pleasure when he told Hank to "tread lightly." Hank has always acted like a big shot, and Walt has seen him at his lowest points several times. Finally getting to be Heisenberg to Hank needed to have that little hint of ego and, not a shock, Cranston nailed the whole scene.

100% going to cry when Jesse dies. Aaron Paul is amazing. Starting to think everyone else will live except maybe Walt+Hank.

Jesse is a textbook tragic hero. We're all so sympathetic towards him now because he cries a lot and gives away his money. But he's no better than Walt. He had no motivation like family or imminent death behind his decision to cook and distribute
meth, only greed. He is mostly responsible for building Walt into the monster that he is.

And now he hates himself and wants to die, he shows remorse and his fueling greed is gone, and the audience loves him. That's brilliant writing is what that is.

I'm a fan of both series but IMO Breaking Bad is and has always been better than Mad Men. Hopefully Breaking Bad will finally win an Emmy for best drama this final season.

The opening scene was so great, as was the last scene. I'm so fucking pumped that everything is out on the table with Hank and Walt now, I can't wait to see where they go from here. Walt had absolutely relapsed, he'd be hard pressed to fake an MRI/CT scan that showed that Drs that he needed chemo when he was absolutely fine. <- just my .02

    What the opening scene meant to me was;

Walt's house is condemned, which meant that the house was abandoned either because Walt was dead/fled as well as his family. What he does went public

His neighbor was absolutely shocked to see him, which I originally took it as Walt's escapades were made public, but now I could see him faking his own death.

The oranges, to me, were the most significant thing. This makes me believe that Walt dies.

I think we'll get A LOT of color fakeouts from here on out.

I still think the oranges are really significant.

Jesse 100% dies. there is no doubt about that to me any more. the acting in this episode might be the best theyve ever done. Jesse's car scene was so sad and powerful and then obviously the confrontation between walt and hank was just mind blowing. Also, i havent seen anyone mention Lydia's concern over the 68% purity of her meth. Maybe her people come to America to fuck some shit up before hank or anyone gets to walt. either way walt is going to use saul's guy and i think saul will use that guy as well as soon as he realizes what exactly is going on.

Apples and oranges man. I don't think one is better than the other, they make me feel completely different things. Breaking bad punches you in the face with awesome and mad men is boring to some people cause no one gets shot and the plot has to be followed, it's not nearly as linear as BB.

Those are both 2 of the best shows ever made.

Lydia was not lost on me. That is what I assume the gun is for. I said a few pages ago that Walt was 99.6% gale at his best was 93% and in his words "it's a major difference" Lydia mentioned in 5.8 that Czech meth was 60% pure.

I forget what duclaws guys were cooking but I feel it was 68%.

Walt makes a point to say the difference between his meth and the New York Yankees is that difference.

Edit just watched opening of 5.7 yea. They are using either Todd or duclaws cook.

Had to work tonight so I caught up on DVR a little while ago. Absolutely brilliant episode. So much to take in right now, probably going to watch it again tomorrow. Holy SHIT this season is going to rock.
