Re: ***Official Pittsburgh - Star Lake 2016***

I copied most of this post from last year's thread. Let me know if I need to add/delete anything.

LOT OPENING TIME (THIS WAS FROM 2015):
    Live Nation, so usually this:
    Parking: 4:00pm
    Doors: 6:00pm
    Show: 7:00pm
They usually open them early because of the cars that line up on Rt. 18.

Links to Ants tailgate parking maps (at least the usual spot, let me know):
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5...TVU&authuser=0
    and
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5...a00&authuser=0

    ALT TO 22/30 ROUTES:
I posted some back road pointers in previous years to avoid the 22/30 back up when getting off the exit and now with it being 1 lane each way from Oakdale until ???, which a few people used and I assume was useful from the thanks I received. I figured I would post options again this year to help people out. I picked a random starting point for these to show the route.

The Imperial exit then parallel to Rt22 route: https://goo.gl/maps/qZxr3
The Rt30W through Clinton to Rt18S route: https://goo.gl/maps/XfqgH
The Oakdale exit to North Branch to Midway to Rt18N route: https://goo.gl/maps/qFu0B
The I79 to venue (without using 22/30) route: https://goo.gl/maps/PUj7u
Also, if 22/30 interchange at Robinson is backed up, go past it and take 576 at the airport down to Rt22W: https://goo.gl/maps/oPsyi
I think the toll is 50 or 75 cents.

RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA...MOSTLY BASED ON GOOD BEER:
Fat Head's - For beer or food, I always name this #1 for out of towners.
Piper's Pub - Across the street from Fat Head's. Also excellent food.
Bocktown Beer & Grill - Next to Target in Robinson (actually North Fayette but everyone calls it Robinson). Local place, love it.
Industry Public House - Next to Sam's Club and near Bocktown. Just opened this year after the Larryville one being very popular. Great beer selection. Good brunch too.
Church Brew Works - Amazing building. Above average beers, but only serve what they make. Above average food that can be hit or miss sometimes, in my experience.
Beerhead Bar - Since the Pirates are in town the same weekend again, it is right next to PNC Park. It's a BYOFood place with a wide selection of beers. You can bring in food or order it delivery. A chain that started in Chicago.

If you're looking for a place to buy beer for tailgating, Market District (Giant Eagle) in Robinson has a good selection. You can't buy cases there though...just individual bottles or 6ers. They have a limit of 192 oz for purchases but you can also have multiple people or buy your limit, go to your car, then come back in.
Beer distributor just off 22/30 Imperial exit: Essex, 100 Market Pl Dr, Oakdale, PA 15071 (next to McD's and Shop N Save).

Let me know if there's anything that should be added!

Re: ***Official Pittsburgh - Star Lake 2016***

Show starts at 8 this year, different from last year. I believe the band has been coming on around 8:20.

    My $0.02 on food recommendations:
Fat Head's - Probably the best casual restaurant in Pittsburgh.
Piper's Pub - A good second option if Fat Heads is too crowded. Another great option in that area is Urban Tap.
Bocktown Beer & Grill - Would recommend Industry over Bocktown, but still great.
Industry Public House - Delicious + smoked whiskeys are too good.
Church Brew Works - As mentioned, very hit or miss. Seems to always be a miss for me. Not too impressed with their beers.
Beerhead Bar - Good beer option, would recommend Burgatory to out-of-towners who find themselves on the North Shore.

    Other additions:
Shiloh Grill in Mt. Washington is very good if you ride up on the incline.
Meat & Potatoes in Downtown, may be impossible to get a reservation at this point, but probably in the top 3 restaurants in the city.
Mad Mex in Robinson is also a good American/Mexican restaurant. Huge margs and a great beer selection.

    I love meat & potatoes.

I would also recommend Emporium at Sienna Mercato if someone is downtown.

Not really anywhere cheap near PNC park. Pricing also isnt horrible, lots next to heinz field are normally like $8 or so. Parking garage might be $15

I got cheap tickets the day they went on sale on MLB.com.
    Looking forward to it.

Dumb question, what's the physical address for that garage? I remember having a hard time finding garages in google maps.

The Oliver garage is $5 as well. The walk is a little farther, but you could also hop on the T at wood street and get off right at PNC park too.

not sure of the exact address of the garage but it's directly across the street from the renaissance hotel so i would just use that address

    107 6th street, pittsburgh 15222

That's where I typically park. But, also, meters are free (unless this changed in the past year or so) on Sundays, so you could also park on the street.

I'll be at the game Friday night!

Good catch on the show time.

Good food adds except I can't get behind Burgatory. I've eaten there 8-10 times times mostly for work lunches and still not a fan when it's free...and way overpriced IMO. People seem to love it thought, so maybe it's just me (and my wife).

Fryer outstanding list. Just a heads up for the north road detour route. North Branch road is closed just before the Washington County line. If you aren't familiar with the area maybe steer clear of that detour.

    Doors: 6:00pm
    Show: 7:00pm
They usually open them early because of the cars that line up on Rt. 18.

Links to Ants tailgate parking maps (at least the usual spot, let me know):

Thanks man! This is great! We have generally been meeting at the Shop & Save in Imperial, PA (just off of 22/30) to caravan into the venue. https://goo.gl/maps/yDEAp1xkNi82

Any reason you can see that this wouldn't continue to be a good meetup point? I'm not familiar with the construction projects out that way.

I actually grew up (and parents still live there) on a side road off North Branch about 2 miles from the closure so I should have picked that up when I linked it. Thanks!

Welcome! The only reason I wouldn't meet and go from there is it is in the middle of the Rt 22 one lane area if you want to avoid that.

If you still do meet there....
Anyone coming from the east to meet at SnS, I would take this route to avoid the Robinson to Oakdale stretch where it goes from 2 lanes to 1 lane: https://goo.gl/maps/CKz8pZLimCH2

If coming south on 376, just take the McClaren Rd exit for the same route.

Meat & Potatoes - Downtown. May be impossible to get a reservation at this point, but probably in the top 3 restaurants in the city. (cbr60)
Mad Mex - Robinson. Also a good American/Mexican restaurant. Huge margs and a great beer selection. (cbr60)
Emporium at Sienna Mercato - Downtown. 3 levels: Meatballs, pizza, and roof top bar with bar food. (TheLastPig)
Gaucho - Best restaurant in the city hands down. (hailtopitt and I have to agree with him.)

If you want to avoid the city (and its associated traffic with it). entirely, take 70 west to route 18 north right up to to venue The most direct is to take 30 to 22 but that traffic will be heavier.

All of the ALT Routes are coming in westbound. If I am coming in eastbound from Steubenville, OH do you have any suggestions/concerns with traffic? Would a route that went through Burgettstown and brought me up 18N be the best way to avoid traffic or not as much of a concern coming in eastbound?
