There is NO parking lot/tailgate scene at Berkeley.
HOWEVER, there is a truly great party happening in the line in front/beside the venue, and many of us arrive 1-2 hours before, with coolers and drinks/food, and have a great time waiting together to enter. They even have a port-a-potty outside for us. In 2014, the Warehouse line was separate from TM tickets, allowing us to enter first and choose our viewing location. As long as we are keeping it under control, venue security doesn't care that we are drinking there. We throw anything undrank out before entering, so everyone is sharing around beer at the end. So try to make sure that you get WH tickets.
As in 2014, we rented a place to stay, within walking distance through VRBO. There are not many hotels very close. Doubletree Marina has balconies
and is a very long walk or bus/taxi away, but expensive. If uber works there, then that would probably be a good way to get back after the show - we stayed there in 2008 and had trouble getting back Saturday and Sunday night (but that was during weekend). Check out VRBO/airbnb. I did hear that their city council is considering passing a law banning short term rentals like this, before August. It may be smart to have a backup reservation at a hotel.
