It's absolutely stepped up its game. The last two episodes in particular have been great. I think it's just as well that it probably won't get renewed, because I do kind of wonder where they could take it for multiple seasons, but it's been an enjoyable summer watch.

can someone who knows more about how the industry works explain to me why abc would greenlight selfie?

like, it'll get panned horribly, get terrible ratings, and likely not make it through even one season. are the amount of people that will watch for the hell of it enough to warrant airing it in the first place?

About halfway through the first season of The Bridge. The story is holding my interest well enough, but damn the main female character is annoying as hell.

Halt and Catch Fire, much like Penny Dreadful, needed the entire first half of its first season to catch its stride. I genuinely looked forward to each of the last four episodes or so after that.

well didn't one of those hip blog sites like Vulture or something do a piece several weeks back giving the (very strong) recommendation that if Halt & Catch Fire got a 2nd season, it should move it to a different night? because Sundays have just gotten so friggin crowded anymore. that seemed like a good idea to me.

If it wasn't on ABC family or about kids in high school it would probably get more love. It is actually a pretty decent suspense thriller with some horror elements.

    and the girls are hot

This next to last Halt & Catch Fire episode, even though it seems like the season finale could be pointed in this direction, I'm guessing that we won't have Steve Jobs actually show up. For one thing, I'd imagine we would've heard casting info, but even aside from that, it feels like he'd be too big of an external figure for them to put in the show, even for a season (series?) finale. Like things would cease to be all about them to enough of a degree.

I know, right?? and how bout how far they went with Michael Pitt as the Mason Verger character at the end of the season... It feels a miracle we got a season 3, though we said the same about season 2. I believe Fuller has said he's got roughly a 7 season plan, I think at best if it makes it that long, by the end it's playing on another network/venue/etc.

well did you ever happen to read the Hannibal novel? cause the thing is I can only go off the movie, and since you only get that one little flashback scene of Mason as a younger man, I'm not sure if he was written originally to be that sort of 'lively' back around the time he first crossed paths with Lecter.

Although it doesn't seem like much of an accident, when I've looked at some lists on movie blog sites of casting suggestions for famous villains in the new Snyder DC universe, Pitt definitely landed on a couple for the next incarnation of the joker. I don't know, I mean it seems like the guy is supposed to be like a psychopath or something, but maybe Pitt did go a little overboard with the portrayal. I just remember thinking I was shocked that NBC let that scene play out the way it did. even for like 9pm on a Friday.

Yeah, I have read all of the novels.

I do think he went overboard with his portrayal. Overacted it.

And there were many many many scenes I was super surprised to have seen that were aired on network TV.
