Summer Tour Show Time Information

DMB Summer Tour 2016 shows will start at 8.00 pm for one long set without an opening act. If you are holding tickets that state the show time as 7.00 pm please plan on arriving for an 8 PM show. Exceptions are Bangor (7.30 pm show) and at the Gorge where the music begins at 5.00 pm with (tba) and Lake Street Dive. See you this summer!

Agreed, unless they come on right at 8 each night. However, we all know what will start at 8 will drift to 8:20 by show 4 of the summer.

Openers would be nice. But I am definitely happy about this news. I was 100% ready to go back to one long set with proper flow.

So I know I'll be in the minority here, and definitely not trying to call anyone out, but I'm confused about the whole "I get more time to tailgate" statements.

If I follow this logic, between the choice of
A. Getting to see Dave Matthews and the band play an 8-9 song acoustic set OR
B. Drinking in a parking lot

Some people would prefer the second option?

I get the electric vs. acoustic argument but we all know the show won't start until 8:20-8:30pm now...with no opener. Add in an encore break and with some venues having a 1030 or 11pm curfew "One Long Set" actually wont be that long. Again, IMO, but less music to me is never good news.

Couldn't agree more. I'd be fine with this change if it meant they'd take the stage at 8 PM sharp every night, but we all know that's never going to be the case. I mean hell, I remember WPB N2 in '14 when they came on at 8:45 PM at a venue with a hard 11 PM curfew. I'll never turn down more tailgate time, but this wreaks of less music for the same admission price.

This is definitely true, we're all splitting hairs here (myself included). They could play for 4 hours and someone would leave pissed off.

All of the Facebook events DMB put out are being changed to reflect the correct time. Makes me wonder if two sets or an opener was planned and then botched at the last minute?

I get what you're saying. I'm still on the more tailgating time is better list. This band has been touring for 25+ years, many of us have been to a stupid amount of shows, met people from all over the country, and have made great friends. I'm doing 9 shows this year mostly to be with friends in different cities.

It's honestly 50/50 for value for me. Friends/The Show itself. So I guess it's not mostly friends.

the acoustic set was just not working in the amphitheater setting IMO

for me, it's less about more drinking time and more about every song being full-sounding with full lighting effects and big screens...they did it this way for 20ish years for a reason. it worked for them

song time will go down, yes, but i bet quality will go way up

This exactly... plus the predictability.

Throw in an acoustic Raven or Ants once in a while. cool with me. but the format just wasn't working in the amphitheater

I'd buy the same amount.

They know they are screwing consumers out of less product, thus the inclusion of the word 'long'.
Just like they justified getting rid of openers in the first place by giving us '2 sets' that amounted to 1 set plus 2 songs.

I'm with you! I could care less about tailgating. I go to shows to hear music. I actually enjoyed the acoustic portion of 2 sets. Seems like we will get less show now. Keep in mind. I just started going to shows 2 years ago so my only experience is 2 sets.

just because there were only a few more songs doesn't mean it wasn't 2 sets though

they will be coming on stage around 8:15-8:25 at every venue

if your venue has a curfew, then that sucks. if not, then it should be a bit longer
