What newer bands are cutting into your DMB listening?

Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats are surging for me. His older stuff is singer-song writer gold and newer stuff is rocking. I am interested in hearing who else is worth a listen....

I saw The Werks a few weeks ago. Played 7 songs but stage time was like 2 and a half hours. It was something else.

The Revivalists is probably the only new band I've discovered the past several years that I enjoy. I look forward to seeing suggestions in this thread

Nathaniel Rateliff kicks ass if you have not seen their tiny desk concert that should be enough to get you into the band

Nathaniel Rateliff is incredible. Got to see them last year open for Paul Simon. It was an incredible evening. I'd love to see them again.

Marcus King Band is fairly new and pretty great - similar to Nathaniel Rateliff in that whole soul, blues thing. Margo Price is a newer country act that is really great. Kinda has like an early Dolly Parton thing going for her (in terms of voice).

I've discovered some more obscure 70s rock acts lately that are really rocking, like Patto, Man, Cactus and Roy Buchanan.

The night sweats are up beat and are a great live act. His lyrics are amazing. May take some time to get into. I recommend starting with live stuff. Make sure it is with Night sweats....

His older stuff is much different. Darker and depressing. I like it too, but way different.

Re: What newer bands are cutting into your DMB listening?

For me, it's not so much new bands but just finding myself listening to a lot of other bands outside of DMB that I haven't listened to as much. A part of that is because the new music isn't good, there isn't a new album and the tapes aren't as must-listen as they used to be.

A couple of the bands I enjoy outside of the classics and established stuff is The Revivalists and Chris Robinson Brotherhood mainly. I really dig their sounds.

Both put on great shows. Saw CRB open for Moe last year and they were better than Moe.

The Revivalists are the only band I've found so far that will come close to filling the void left when DMB hang it up.

Hmmm. I mean they're pretty talented musically, but Mihali's vocals are so painful. Pretty bad, considering I'm a huge Phish fan...

Tedeschi Trucks Band is great and their new live album is amazing. Been listening to a lot of Pearl Jam live stuff from 2016 and they sound better than ever. Since 311 has a new album coming out I have been listening to a lot of them at the gym. Also Blind Pilot & Amos Lee. None of these bands are new so I need to check some new bands out.

I feel exactly the same. I hear some jam stuff and im like "fuck yeah im totally on board" then start listening to the actual songs as a whole and it gives a totally different feel.

No kiddin?! Corin, Carrie or Janet? I first got turned on to them when they opened for Pearl Jam in the early 00's. So glad they came back with a new album/tour.
