If it was your wife that just found out you were cheating, you'd be a total biatch. Furthermore, I don't care how much he can bench; I'd whip Tiger's ass if he can't even control a 115 lb bikini model. Seriously. I don't care if she does have a golf club.

I think it's called manning up and doing the right thing while the cops really don't want to arrest pretty Mrs. Woods.

If your wife tries to kill you, you deserve it because she found out you were screwing around? There is no way she didn't know what was going on before that night. She lost her shit and tried to kill him, IMO. If I hit someone with a golf club, it's attempted murder or assault with a deadly weapon no matter what that person did to deserve it.

What if she hit him with something else (like a golf ball or cleat) and hit the car with a golf club? He doesn't seem to be fearing for his life.

That's different. I don't think you could kill someone with a soft spike sole or a single golf ball. That's a minor domestic offense.

I think Tiger seems pretty calm because if he gets busted up again she's going to jail, and she's got a half billion reasons to keep him alive.

I just think the odds of her intent being to kill him are very slim. She just wigged out. Maybe hit him with something. He ran like a pussy. She gave chase. He can't drive under pressure. Boom. That's why this is a story. Because the fucking cops showed up.

Dylan never took $100s of millions for pimping products Tiger has. Tiger sold himself to companies and the consumers of his products are owed an explaination.

I think he should've played Bay Hill before the Masters, but that's just me. It makes sense now that I think about it since Augusta is more of a private tournament and he won't have to deal with the full effects of the media and crowd. However from a golf point of view, he should've played Bay Hill.

I hope Tiger doesn't come out completely flat. I hope he goes and puts up a good showing at the Masters and just moves on from all of this. The last thing he needs is to go into a slump and have the drama just drag on and on.

The consumers are owed an explanation? For them being morons if they're pissed they bought something now that TW isn't an angel? Oh come on. He's a poster child. Not a scientific analyzer who approved their products through years of testing. It's not like he was promoting safe sex or a certain lifestyle in these adds. He was mostly actually promoting things that will get you laid if properly used. Cars, man grooming products, banks, etc.

I really don't understand this. If anything, Tiger owes an apology to the sponsors, not the consumers. I'm not sure why Tiger owes me an apology just because I use a Gillette razor. He should apologize to his sponsors because they built campaigns around him as this perfect athlete, but was exposed as otherwise. He was getting paid to live up to that "perfect athlete" idea (impossible, and unfair as it is) and he failed.

People bought the brand for the image of what Tiger is/was. That is the fault of the companies but people bought into that. I mean people buy products all the time for the image its not unheard of. When you brand yourself as perfection and you get burned you owe the people who you work for (sponsors and the average joe). If people stop buying his products his image and value are gone. The people/consumer drive Tigers marketability.

I'm not buying it, not with products that aren't in any way related to one's personal relationships. I don't see how Tiger's sexual escapades have any impact on whether or not I buy Gatorade or a Gillette Razor, or a Buick. I don't see how these products connect Tiger's adultery and the consumer.

This should def. be sticky'd, since the Masters 2010 will be one of the biggest sporting events in recent history, especially if Tiger is in contention going into Saturday.

i dont see how tiger endorsing it makes me want to use any of those products...i honestly think celebrity endorsements are over-rated. at this stage of the game, gatorade doesnt need to pay athletes over $100 million a year to drink it during a commercial- we ALL know gatorade, and we all know whether we like it or not. i really think celeb endorsements are a waste of money unless youre a new company

Pretty much. At least for products that aren't directly related to the sport an athlete plays. MJ sponsoring Nike and then the Jordan line was beneficial, just like Tiger and Nike now. But when athletes sponsor non-sports products it has no effect on my likelihood to purchase.

I dunno. I think once you get to a certain level in golf equiptment, it becomes mostly about getting used to it. Like you give me a brand new set of TW clubs and 3 rounds a week for a year and I guarantee I'm not shooting any better than with a brand new set of Callaway's with the same practice. So I could understand the golf course type who now feels he has to sell his $2000 set of TWs for something more PC. Maybe he owes them...a kick in the ars.

I think this is the exception to celebrity endorsements. Tiger can sell golf equipment and apparel because he's an expert in that field, just like Jordan can sell basketball shoes.

If I showed up at a basketball pickup game in Jordan or Lebron gear I would feel great and people wouldn't say shit to me. My last girlfriend bought me a red Nike Golf polo and a fitted black Nike One hat, and I've never been so self-conscious and taken so much shit in my life, when she made me wear it.

I know Nike has volumes of market research which say otherwise, but I don't see how Tiger sells that much golf stuff. The people who can afford the Tiger stuff are usually the people who dislike Tiger.

I know Nike has volumes of market research which say otherwise, but I don't see how Tiger sells that much golf stuff. The people who can afford the Tiger stuff are usually the people who dislike Tiger.
Out of curiosity, what kind of shit did you take? I wear Nike gear golfing all the time, get nothing but positive reaction.

This was 2 summers ago. I played with 3 people my age and 1 guy in his late 40s. The people my age just busted my balls about how stupid I looked, which I agreed with, but the older people in my group and around the course had all sorts of crazy shit to say.

I'd have to guess that Phil would sell more high end golf equipment than Tiger, because serious golfers with the cash for a $500 driver are for the most part Phil fans. Tiger obviously is a valuable Nike asset, but I think it's more focused on the whole brand than the golf division.
