Exactly - there are more than three albums' worth of (largely) superior songs, plus Shotgun, Grey St, YNK etc post Lillywhite that are also better

Well yeah I get that there are many on the first albums that are better, but afterward not so much. Stay or leave is better, than anything "released" after it. Granted some of the unreleased such as shotgun are better but then you'd have to pick certain versions of songs. Grey st came before SoL. I just figured it might get more votes that is all, especially from people that got into the band later in their career.

i am a little surprised that The Stone is the most universally beloved DMB song, by a good margin.

i'd expect it to be in the Top 10, definitely, but not #1.

I've always found this so difficult to do with DMB. My top's change based on whats going on, or what mood I'm in. Plus I'm a musician myself(Guitar, Bass, Drums, Uke, Piano, and a couple more) so I'll gain a better appreciation for a song if I learn how to play it and study it front to back.

And for that reason, I don't ever really have a bottom because I'm always fluctuating. But I definitely have a top.

If I had to organize it, I'd say my top ten ( at the moment ) is probably like this:

1. The last stop
2. All along the watchtower (I know its a cover but still)
3. Jimi Thing
4. Snow outside
5. The Stone (D&T or acoustic, like the tape from Charlie Rose)
6. #36 (Love a good jam)
7. The Dreaming Tree
8. Raven
9. Too much
10. Drive in, Drive out

I don't really know though, I've only just finished typing this list and I'm kinda hesitant to put this forward as my opinion. When it gets down to it, I just love DMB and (almost) everything about it.

No Song placed in the top 5 like The Stone. Half the ballots put it in the top 5 overall. And all walks of life love it; men, women, internet fan, and non-internet fan. It’s almost incredible to believe, but The Stone was by far the most detested song from Before These Crowded Streets among the “hardcore” fans of 1998. They were the ones complaining that DMB’s sound had altered too drastically, and wagged a finger in the direction of The Stone. Those who left were replaced by fans who appreciated the scope of the song. Even today, there remains a debate on exactly what the song is about (the prevailing thought is that it’s told through the mind of Judas right after he turned Jesus into the authorities). Regardless of the true meaning, the heavy, deep tone, in both music and lyrics, haunts DMB fans, and leaves them awed by its awesome power live. It’s a beast live, and consistently the one song that fans mention that they want to hear. It has a bit over 300 plays since 1998 through 2010, and its placement in shows lately has been more of a treat for fans; it hasn’t been in heavy rotation since 2005. But no one soured on The Stone during its lull; DMB fans love it. It’s #1.

It's hard to list a for sure top ten or bottom ten for me. I would say dreaming tree is number 1.

Plastic girl is pretty close to the worst I would say.
