Re: Are you going to D&T?

I thought about going but taking everything into consideration I'm not. The size of the venues is preposterous, and because they are a travel destination I won't get anything close from the warehouse. These shows need to be in theatres and smaller venues that cater to acoustic performences. As much as I loved the full band acoustic it didn't really work in the larger venues, so I can't see how this would. I could see if your within the lower sections, but buying those on secondary markets, plus travel fees and everything else included i cant rationale that. If these were full band or in theatres ect..., then yeah I would go. I'm starting to wonder who wanted this break, but I could see a schedule, time length wise, as this tour when full band resumes.

I'm absolutely going both nights at the Mann, thinking first night in the pit and 2nd night on the lawn perhaps. Am I super keen on the idea of seeing D&T in an amphitheater style venue? No, not really, but I've never seen D&T and it should be a fun show nonetheless.

Nope. Not crazy about the venues and crowds will make the experience unbearable. After 6 shows last year and traveling to the Gorge I'm due for a year off.

What are the ticket prices everyone is going on about? I haven't even looked.

Thanks. 95 is pushing it. You couldn't give me lawn tickets for this. Wouldn't be worth the price of traveling. Whatever. At this point it all feels like a cash grab.

    No.

The main reason is that I simply don't care enough to travel 3-5 hours. Venue choice certainly doesn't help though. Tickets are also a bit too high, IMO, though if there was a show closer to me I would still more than likely go.

I'm betting if the band toured this summer, this would be the prices. And you can be damned sure if the band tours again next year, this is what they'll be.

If not higher. The band has been under pricing their shows for a long time.

I'm gonna try to get tickets for Nashville but I won't be sad if I miss out. I can only go to N2 and I'm not looking forward to the crowds and possibly sitting on the lawn even though Ascend's lawn is pretty good. I just bought Radiohead tickets and that was hard enough.

I am on the fence. I want to go...but I feel like an outside summer show, the vibe is better with the whole band. This is the first time in years that I haven't jumped on the first day of ticket sales and bought them...

    Yes and yes
Most people's option though is with less crew and expenses as a whole that they could have kept it $85 and bumped it next yr when the band returned. No one would botch about that.
Personally I look at it as music time. D&T typically play a longer show so I'm happy with that.

Based on poll results, most people are going even if they are not "happy"

Not a huge fan of this tour, but blossom is 30 mins from my house so I will be hitting that show. It's very tempting to request a premium package but fuck that shit.

I think it is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to want to go cause it's Dave. I've got a little tussle going on in my head (my head won't leave my head alone), but am assuming I will still put in for WH ticks for Nashville and Chi-town. I also assume decent to good tickets will be easy to unload at face.

Are people really that upset over a 10 dollar increase in uppers and lowers?? I can understand concerns about venue and crowds but really 10 extra dollars is the hill people are going to wage their war on? Just seems a little silly to me.

That's a strong assumption. Most WHers ended up with 400s for this Dallas show tomorrow, and people have had to take a loss selling them for less than face because they can't move them.

thanks for the info. I have not been following the ticket status for these upcoming shows in TX. My assumption may just apply to good-to-excellent seats.

I am requesting for Nashville and it's the only "logical" choice in my mind. With that said, it is a 3 hour drive to Chicago for me and about 8 hours to Nashville...

I can't see myself doing Chicago. With the chance of having worthless seats, the headache that is getting in and out of the venue, and city for that fact.

I have never seen a D&T show and of course I'd rather see them at an indoor intimate venue. But with Nashville looking like a rather small venue with good seats all around from what I'm hearing, coupled with the fact that I've never been to Nashville and been wanting to check out that city, it was an easy decision.

I still enjoy the music and DMB shows are always the thing I look forward to the most every summer, so when I saw the D&T dates announced I didn't have a second thought about going. I mean yeah I think there might be some other Chicago venues that would have worked better for an acoustic show but I really didn't put too much thought into it. The only D&T I've seen was short set at the Caravan so I'm looking forward to this. I was preparing for a year of no DMB or anything DMB related so I just took this is a pleasant surprise.

    This is how I feel.

Bummed that I can't make it to the Chicago shows, but hoping they add some dates later in the summer that I can travel to.

reasonably optimistic POVs are not especially welcomed around here. Please dial it back just a bit in future posts.

Even in my own city, I'll often pass on a show if it's at the Erwin Center (where UT basketball plays) whereas if it was at COTA (amphitheater), I'd go. Venue makes a difference to the experience, IMO, so it's certainly a factor. And that multiples exponentially if we're talking about spending hundreds of dollars on travel to get to said venue.

I might would go to NI if I lived in Chicago, but there's no way in hell I'm getting on a plane to see D&T at that venue.
