Re: If you could change one thing...

Yep, this. I love Tim but the band has gotten so electric.

Take away Tim's electric on every song. Swap it out with an acoustic except for a few small amount of songs.<br>

Also, more spontaneity.[/QUOTE]

I will say, I don't hear AS many alien sounds coming from Tim these days like a few years ago.

Perhaps its because I havent been listening to as many current shows.

I would like the band to get back to their roots. Stop worrying about sounding perfect or hyper criticizing themselves and let loose. Change up the setlist on a whim or do more scat and improv jams.

Sax song... certainly not a sad song.

Little typo on the phone. I think the song is just meant for a saxophone solo and not the electric guitar.

Much prefer the band with Tim over Butch. But it would be great to see some more keys. I would love to see Linus and Lucy live. New covers. I was listening to The Charlie Daniels band Devil went down to Georgia and thought, that would be a great cover. Or Paul Simons diamonds on the souls of her shoes.

Roi's solo on #41 on LT 8 is filthy. I agree that we need more Roi style solo's on #41. There is a time and place for the style that Jeff plays, but #41 is not one of those times. Make it a smooth solo.

This is a great point you bring up. Does anyone know the reason they stopped doing soundchecks, besides the obvious just pure laziness/indifference? Personally i think that action speaks volumes- it says that as musicians, they simply dont care how thier instrument is going to sound to the audience. It shows they have no interest or passion in thier instruments, fine-tuning thier sound, or exploring new sounds or ideas they could introduce later in the show. It demonstrates an entire lack of creativity or a desire to play together. And most importantly, its pretty much poor performance at work as they are blowing off a requirement of thier job. Its flat out insulting that they wouldnt take a personal interest in how thier performance is going to sound to the people they are paid to entertian. Different venues require different setups, but thier answer to that is obviously to just have tim deafen the audience with crunchy effects to mask all of thier ineptitude.

It says that they're perfectly comfortable playing with each other. They sound great

Like many bands now days they don't do sound checks and prefer the "rehearsal room" At first they made a point to do this every show. and the set list where great...then they seemed to be working on new material during that time and less on the old songs. Now days I know they still have it because pictures still pop up with them all in the room, but as to what they are working on and the frequency that it occurs seems to be a mystery. There is not much talk about it any more. regardless if its a true "sound check" or a "rehearsal room" it still takes commitment from the band to keep pushing the envelope. Thats why a year off is going to be good for this band.

You would have to go back a little further than that and fix was what wrong during tLWS.

I say this all the time. Boyd plays Johnny, Tim plays the Devil, and Dave narrates (except for the end when Johnny calls the Devil an SOB. Boyd can do that ).

I'll add 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago and Touch Me by the Doors to the list of songs I'd like to see them try out.

Agree to disagree. I like it and I would rather it than SDL, SoL, or Gravedigger for the 585638956956674th time.
