Re: *Official TOOL Thread*

I just remembered i saw APC on Lalopalooza a couple years back. Maynard was wearing adidas sweats, a wife beater, no shoes, and had a bottle of jack in his hand.
Talk about a badass.

I still really really really want to see TOOL, Aenima is an all time favorite album of mine.

    I couldnt agree more.

Dispositon>Reflection>Triad is the most amazing thirty minutes of music out there.

Here's a little information you may or may not know that I thought was interesting. My friend went to school for audio engineering and told me the following:

Almost every artist lays down two vocal tracks so their voice will sound fuller and more in range on the album. If you listen closely, you can often hear it, because the two vocal tracks always have slight differences. Except Maynards. When you compare his two tracks, they're the same. That's how good he is.

Don't know if that's true or not, but the dude knows a LOT about music and that kinda stuff, so I believe him.

I went to the 10/21/02 at Conseco Fieldhouse (Go Pacers!) in Indianapolis, IN.

Meshuggah opened and they absolutely positively sucked balls. It was some bald Swedish dude screaming at the top of his lungs with a bunch of thrashed out power chords playing in the background.
It was funny, in between songs the guy was like:
"Thank You, you fucking rock. Fuck Yeah. Fuck. You fucking rock America." he had a funny voice when he spoke, a cross between the chef on the muppets and James Hetfield.

    Anyways,
Tool will send chills down your spine, you feel every note they play, and they play with perfection. There are the tightest (not like "thats tight dawg", but tight as in togetherness) rock band I've ever heard. I was about three people off the front rail and it was incredible. Maynard had on a pair of speedos, with his whole head painted black. He stood at the far back end of the stage facing away from the crowd playing a strange little bass or guitar (couldn't see). The whole show is an experience, with tons of lights and monitors. At the end they turned on black lights in the whole place and dropped black light repsonsive confetti during the encore.

All of their albums are incredible, I love how raw Opiate is. Anyways, can't wait for the new album and corresponding tour, I'll be there.

That's one of the most inaccurate descriptions of Meshuggah I've ever heard. Go buy Catch 33.

I've been a fan since I first heard stinkfist back in 96. I thought each album got progressivly better, with lateralus being my favourite. It was maynard's vocals that first got me interested, my favourite voice in music today. I have seen Tool 4 times Edgefest 2001, Toronto 2001, Ottawa 2002, Hamilton 2002.
I have also seen APC 4 times Summersault 2000, Toronto 2001, Toronto 2003,
Toronto 2004. I was impressed with each of their shows. I loved the Tool shows with maynard off in the back, taking the focus off him and letting the music speak for itself. I can't wait for the new album, its almost been five years so i'm expecting something great.

you are correct. billy corgan layers many vocal tracks. it makes the voice seem full and adds range. If you listen to stand up on good head phones you can really hear daves multiple tracks......may 2nd 2006 this TOOL fan will finally get his fix as will many other TOOL addicts. I keep hearing great stuff about this new album drop. ..."heavy,heavy,heavy"

I love Tool and A Perfect Cirlce equally. I have only been to an APC and I thought it was outstanding. I am looking forward to the new Tool album more than any album this year. I read an early review of it, some where around here and it sounds like it'll be wonderful. Can't wait for it and a tour!
