Boyd said they wrote their best music during soundchecks on howard stern wrap up yesterday (Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/happy-valenti...n-wrap-up-show)

This song wasn't written at a soundcheck it was written in the studio!!!

I'm sure these aren't right but here you go:

    Plastic Girl

Try to ? to make some sense
    Freeing song inside my head
But in between now and then
I wasted time to try to fit in

    This beautiful plastic world,
    Beautiful plastic girls
The colors are brighter in there
    Colors are everywhere

    It’s a beautiful plastic world
    And the beautiful plastic girls
I want to get inside there
    The colors they everywhere

    Oh that ends you dare
I try my best to fit in
But in between now and then
I waste my time to try to fit in

    This beautiful plastic world,
    Beautiful plastic girls
The colors are brighter in there
    Colors are everywhere

    It’s a beautiful plastic world
    It’s a beautiful plastic world
I want to get inside there
    The colors they everywhere

    Scat
    Oh out there

    Scat
    I said

A pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty lady
    Lord oh

I want to get the ? the ?
    Oooh sure
    Oh no
    Oh no
    Ooohoh yea

    Watch the plastic girl
    In the beautiful plastic world
I want to get inside there
    The colors are everywhere

    In the beautiful plastic world
    The beautiful plastic girls
    The colors are brighter there
    The colors they’re everywhere

    It’s a beautiful plastic world
    The beautiful plastic girl
I want to get inside there
    The colors are everywhere

    The beautiful plastic girl
I decide to love too much

(From this point it’s possible some of the below is from crowd noise)

    Oh sexy ??
    Scat (screaming)

    A beautiful plastic more/boy?
    Don’t get ?
    She gonna get?
    She gonna get?
    ?
    She gonna fall?

    Scat/nonsense

    1:45 of outro

If I'm Rashaun, I would walk off the stage. He is a musical genius and he HAS to know this and Be Youraelf suck! Seriously, when you write songs like Seek Up, Two Step, and Pig, you have to be asking yourself wtf are these two songs?! It makes me like VITR and DOTHS!

i have three daughters and am terrified at the prospect of what our culture is capable of exposing to them.... The lyrics need work but this is another in a series of new material (SC, DoTHA, Virginia, specifically) within which I see a guy grappling w the same things my wife and I talk and worry about. Worry about our kids.. How they are evolving and on what they are focusing on/ascribing value to. I actually really like the music too. The reality is that I am a relic. Started following the band in in high school. Labeling myself and those who disagree with my perspective is uniquely silly... I'm just hoping that people can consider the perspective of the song. The instantaneous, knee jerk, guttural reaction, and the corresponding impulse to share with the world is probably part of the mentality being critiqued in the song. Anyways...

No better way to highlight the pitfalls of a superficial, shallow world than with a superficial, shallow song!

I can sympathize with your point of view, but it seems like you're reaching a bit. I can't think of any reason why debuting this was a good idea. At least one could argue that Be Yourself is just trying to be fun; this doesn't seem anywhere near being done (at least I hope not).

I know Dave is in the middle of this "for my kids" kick, which, as a father of a young daughter, I can appreciate, but samurai cop did a much better job of conveying his message. Hell, Gaucho did a much better job than this.

Regardless of what message Dave may be trying to convey, how in the world does this, and be yourself, come from the same person who wrote seek up, the stone, pig, typical, pig, dreaming tree??!! I know that people change but damn!

Only slightly better than Be Yourself, thanks to the relatively nice vibe in the music. The lyrics and vocals are a mess of Blackjack proportions.

I don't like when Dave sings this way. It sounds insincere, like the lyrics and song don't mean anything to him (or anyone). Listen to Dreaming Tree, Seek Up, or even fun songs like Billies or Two Step. You can tell by the way Dave sings those song mean a lot to him (or used to). This just sounds like him half drunk on his porch at 2:00AM.
