Yeah, they sent out some of them, but the Jimi on the record was the wrong version and is missing LeRoi's sax outro, so they didn't ship anymore and are (from what Doby says) fixing it. The updated release date on Amazon is early February now.

What a bunch of fucking idiots.

And I'm reading that the album wasn't pressed from analogue but the remastered digital files cut from the analogue tapes. For those who listened, Jimi Thing botch aside, how was the sound?

Newbury Comics needs to chill with these special edition reissues. I've wanted 3 of last 4. It's too close to Christmas to be dropping mad cash on records.

Target running a buy one, get one 50% sale on vinyl - lots of good titles.

The digital downloads using the original CD as a yardstick, they sound good. The reason why I'm disappointed in this not being done AAA @ BGM is I like to use the DMB DVD release as a yardstick. Not all the tracks are fully dynamic, but compare I Did It, Don't Drink the Water and What Would You Say to their CD counterparts and see if, like me, you notice a difference in how much more open and natural sounding they are.

Listened to some more of this last night - http://s23.postimg.org/hpl7j3zl7/Blue.jpg

Makes you think about what the Stereo box could have been, some day maybe they'll redo it. If you want AAA Beatles stereo tracks, don't hesitate to pick up the Blue album. I'm so happy with this release.

Where's the best deal you've seen on the Mono box? I'm thinking about grabbing it once I get my new table.

They're not going for much, but I've seen a few change hands this past weekend for 2x face value. But that's about it.

I would like to own one just to compare when the next version comes out, but I'm not going to pay a fortune for it - it doesn't have BTCS value in my mind, and 2x value is pushing it.

I snagged it for $271 on PopMarket. Apparently there was one other place recently that went down to almost $250 so there are deals coming up now and again on it.

Part of me really wants to grab the new AAA red/blue, but then I realize that I have the Stereo CD Box, the Mono CD box, the Mono Vinyl box, and original pressings of the Red/Blue albums and think it may be overkill...

Ask everyone you know for gift cards for Christmas. I racked up $250 in Amazon gift cards last year for my b-day and Christmas, held onto them, and scored the Mono box for $124 shipped when it came out.

i had no idea about the uttad reissue mess until today. just read the thread on the main board and checked out amazon reviews (the top one is yours, right doby?) and man, calling this a colossal failure might be too kind. the r2t reissue gave us so much hope. alas.

i think if i had the original red/blue albums, i probably wouldn't have gotten the AAA releases. although popmarket had a nice deal earlier this week, scored both of them for $52.

still want to get the '1' vinyl.

are the stereo vinyl reissues worth getting? not the box-set, just the non-mono albums. abbey road, yellow submarine and let it be.

I plan on getting Abbey Road and Let It Be in the stereo versions just so I can be complete. I do have a 70's Capitol orange label reissue of Abbey Road that sounds really good though.

The stereo vinyl wasn't *bad* per se, but it wasn't AAA like the Mono set. They used hi-res digital files, and then the US pressings were frought with errors - surface noise, off center pressings, etc. If you got a good one, they were fine, but there were a lot of duds out there. I imagine it was particularly frustrating if you had the box set as you may end up with mostly nice copies and then 2 or 3 that had issues and have to return them piecemeal.

According to Sean Magee and Steve Berkowitz @ Abbey Road today's cutting heads and techniques are able to extract more of what was on the original tapes than they did 50~60 years ago. I guess you'd need to A/B them to see if you find the newer pressing to be better, but they put that info right on a mastering notes card in each LP in the mono set so they're not beating around the bush. I got each of them for CDN$23 so even if I had the originals this would be a no brainer.

They're more expensive but look to be the same thing - sold by "sleevecity" anyway. Free shipping with Prime so if you have that it probably works out about the same.
Got my sleeves today - they fit the LT box sets perfectly, thanks for the suggestions!

I like to keep all my vinyl in sleeves, it keeps dust off the jacket and keeps dust off the records themselves (especially older ones I've bought that have jackets but not sleeves)

As far as these sleeves go, they're great for the LT box sets. They're a good size - not too big, not too small (commence jokes)

depends on how particular you are. I started doing it, and now I get alarmed by the tiniest scratch on the cover. Even just the scuffing that comes from letting it sit on the record player bugs me. so, once you start, you're gonna be committed. It depends on if you're a collector or just a listener. most people don't care about protecting the cover. they're pretty durable as they are. my mom used to use her covers as coffee coasters apparently judging from her old records

I don't use them on old beat up records but most every record I have is in a sleeve. The first few I bought at the record store came in them so I just kept up with it and it really helps protect the jackets if that's important to you.

if Recently wasn't $15 overpriced I'd probably pick it up. LT 4 is alittle enticing though.
