I don't know what you mean "the band had X songs when they entered the studio". The band obviously had songs they played live, covers and originals and entered into the studio with knowledge of those songs, but there were only so many songs recorded during the UTTAD sessions.
If we look at the UTTAD sessions, we know certain songs were recorded. (
Tour Central is a great source of info on studio sessions, FYI).

Granny - recorded but not on UTTAD, later released for the 20th anniversary of UTTAD.
Say Goodbye, which was more than likely not recorded during the full band session, perhaps Dave solo.
Let You Down, which was more than likely not recorded during the full band session, perhaps Dave solo.
Kind Intentions (#32) - though it may have been simply a jam in the studio.
Drive In, Drive Out - not entirely sure this was recorded, just going off what Dave told a fan in 1994, that they were going to “try it out during the album session”.
Get In Line - due to later soundchecks it is believed this may have been tried in the studio, but it may not have been.
Also, #34 was recorded with lyrics which were removed from the end result of UTTAD.
So there’s 12 songs that made the final cut, as well as one other we know was virtually finished (Granny). Then there’s 6 “maybe” songs that could have been tried/recorded/jammed in studio.
