Ok thanks for the advice! Will wait and see what happens over the course of the next few weeks; beyond excited for this!

They are good, their standard price for 2LP album sets @ 33rpm is $29.99 and then you're guaranteed it's from the original master and no dynamic compression is used.

As an aside the new 5.1 and stereo mixes of Tears for Fears' "Songs from the Big Chair" coming to Pure Audio Blu-ray on November 4th are being done by Steven Wilson from the original analogue multitracks and are advertised as being "flat transfers with no additional mastering EQ or compression applied"

    See - http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/ne...ng/#more-32065

That's how you rock a deluxe edition. So fucking excited for this one.

Tears for Fears vastly underrated. A really, really great band.

I leave town for two days and get back to find this incredible news! Geez! This is such a great awesomeness. Probably gonna wait to see what Amazon's price is, if no difference then I'm going Acoustic Sounds. They hooked me up with Pictures of Nectar and got it to me the day after release..

Does Amazon charge you when you hit preorder or do they charge when shipped?

It's too bad we probably won't get some huge deluxe reissue with b-sides and alternative mixes.

They charge when you hit preorder, but if the price lowers after you preorder it before it releases, they credit your account. Or if it goes up, then you are sitting pretty with a cheaper price. I think R2T was 24.99. Great packaging and got it the day it was released.

Honestly just want a live trax (or dmblive if it's not multi) of the release show

It hasn't been officially announced yet. The same website didn't include the R2T bonus tracks originally.

Crossing my fingers for a deluxe 20th anniversary box set, remastered from the original tapes, bonus material, the whole bit.

Also hoping this means they're working on upgrading the quality of the "hi res" version that will be available in the upcoming ponomusic store in October. That version is only CD quality.

I don't think anyone is saying it's bad... but it's always better to go back to the source for the pressing. If they go back to the masters for this, it will sound a million times better.

Yup. One is a release of the Recently EPs, and the other is the album Under the Table and Dreaming.

It was originally marketed as "perfect"...how would the launch have gone 32 years ago if Sony/Philips had chosen "pretty damn good" for their marketing material?

Agreed, the only question is...what format are the masters in? Was this recorded to tape, or was it recorded to 16/44.1? I asked Lillywhite last night and he responded but I misworded my question and he only answered the first part of it about source lineage saying he's not involved with the vinyl release. I reasked my question to specify that I'm wondering how the original recording was done, tape, digital or both.

If it's only 16/44.1 then we can at least hope it's remastered like the LT vinyl were. There definitely exists more dyanmics in the masters, one need only look at select tracks from the DMB The Videos DVD to see this.

    What Would You Say?
    DVD: DR14
    UTTAD: DR9

    Ants Marching
    DVD: DR11
    UTTAD: DR8

    Tripping Billies
    DVD: DR10
    Crash: DR8

    Don't Drink The Water
    DVD: DR13
    BTCS: DR7

    I Did It
    DVD: DR11
    ED: DR7

Looking at DDTW and WWYS makes you salivate for the release that COULD be, getting a deluxe package that includes perhaps a FLAT TRANSFER of the original stereo master would be the tits.

Would you rather they just slap the CD/digital mix on wax or have them go back to the source? It's pretty simple really...

No one is saying that the CD quality is bad. But it's still a secondary source.

You probably just put on Californication before writing this post...but you should know that's the fault of the master not of the CD. CDs can sound pretty damn good, let me know if you want some examples.
