Really, any of the usual encore closing fare would have been better there. Rapunzel, Two Step, Ants, Billies, Halloween, Watchtower, etc. would have sealed a great show.

Last year at the gorge I knew it was coming so I left during the Stone, made me feel better about myself.

Very true. But like I said, the three straight Blossom repeats left a bad taste for me and I had convinced myself Last Stop was going to happen when Dave brought out the 12-string.

    My own fault.

The song performances were great as was Bela. For me, at least, the electric set didn't start off well with three repeats from Blossom; a bad taste I didn't get over for the rest of the night.

Furthermore, at the end of the show when Dave brought out the 12-string, having seen Grey St. at Blossom the night before, and Bela being on stage, I said to my wife, "Holy shit, they are really going to play Last Stop." I had convinced myself.

That's why I'm glad Star Lake and Blossom are back to being apart.

It's my own fault, I let my lofty expectations get the better of me.

No setlist watching for me this year. Going in cold is the way to go.
I can understand where you would be disappointed with the same follow up from Blossom. I've never personally been to a Blossom show, nor was I upset at those repeats because I wasn't there. To be fair - I've never really seen a bad show at Starlake (Pittsburgh)...Some better than others for sure - but none that I regret seeing. Going in cold is a good move. Keeps the anticipation up, and doesn't let you down when you build yourself up for something that doesn't pan out.

Starlake N2 09 is still my favorite show I've been to... and I've attended:

    CVILLE 2010 and 2012
    AC Caravan all 3 nights
    Blossom 2013

It was a night of many firsts for me. I only started seeing the band in 07.

    First:
    Bartender
    Halloween
    Pig
    Stone (only I've ever seen)
    STJL
    Dreaming Tree
    Typical
    #40 (of any kind)

Plus I called the Bartender opener earlier in the day at my camp site. And a girl I knew gave me a free ticket in the 13th row when I was supposed to be in the lawn.

    It was a magical day.

Honestly I enjoyed CVILLE N1 a little more than N2. Mostly because of Spoon.

Edit: but that N2 encore is probably the best of all time

oh spoon was fantastic. one of my favorite DMB moments ever.

N2 kicked ass, but is way over hyped. Got my first Say Goodbye that show, which has always been one of my favorite songs. Only took me 29 shows to get it.

Everyone's experience is different. For me Starlake N2 2009 was one of the worst shows I've been to. Bottom 5.

That honestly doesn't make sense if you're looking at it from a music standpoint. Maybe if some people you were with caused a bad experience that would make sense.

I just don't see how you look at that set and those performances and say it was bad... because it wasnt.

That honestly doesn't make sense if you're looking at it from a music standpoint. Maybe if some people you were with caused a bad experience that would make sense.

I just don't see how you look at that set and those performances and say it was bad... because it wasnt.
I had great seats, kept great company. But the audience was horrific. They wrote a good set and almost seemed like they were trying to get the crowd going but it just never happened... at least up front. I have seen better performances of every one of the songs played that night.
After having more than one pile of puke hit my feet, seeing a bro piss on the ground rather than go to the bathroom because "CRUSH WHEEEEEEWWWW - FEELING HIGH - YEAH DAVE FUCKIN GETTIN HIGH" and the girl that was turned away from the stage singing loudly and very much off key to her boyfriend/brother/cousin all night then get violent during Halloween because "american baby is better", we decided to never go back to the inbred capital of the US. Then in '12 we had pit tix handed to us so we went. One of the better shows I've seen, and a good enough experience to go back this summer

My whole section was definitely engaged in that show.

But like I said, ppl around you ruined it. Sucks when that happens. Same thing happened to me at Blossom last year.

Also calling pittsburgh the inbred capital of the world in this thread, not a smart move bro.
