there is no way i'd spend more than $200 on a P&S without owning an interchangeable lens camera first. you can pick up a cheap canon/nikon body < $300.
a (used) canon t5i and a solid 17-55mm f/2.8 will run you under a grand
i shoot canon, so i don't know the nikon equivalent
as for this camera:
- f/3.4-6.9 variable aperature will not give you anything good on the low light end, hand held. think f/2-2.8 as a minimum.
- 4.3 to 151 mm is a HUGE zoom so your best aperature (f/3.4) is only going to be used at the wider focal lengths which is not practical, in my opinion.
- this is probably a fine camera for about the town when you don't want to use your phone. in reality the sensor size of P&S is miniscule compared to DSLR/mirrorless.
- it's an 11mm sensor, so multiply those ranges by 3.18 to get your effective focal lengths for full frame (~14mm to 480 mm)
- it's essentially wide angle to super telephoto. in my opinion anything over 100mm is overkill for a general purpose lens unless you're on Safari where you'll need 100-400mm+
dslr>mirrorless>>>>P&S>>phone
hopefully that isn't overly technical. PM me if you want.
