Both true. Last time I cut cable saying I think I want to switch to just internet, they were like okay, done.
However, I was planning on wording it differently this time, to be more like "I think I want to cancel that bundle [that I currently have]" and not say anything about keeping internet yet. But like I said, it never got to that.
But also, I think it helps to have other options in your back pocket to at least mention when you're talking to them. Most companies like that will try to price- or service-match their competition if you have something concrete you can point to. Last time I did it, I lived in an apartment complex where I think there weren't any other options. Now in my house, I know AT&T is around, and although I don't think Google Fiber is coming specifically to my 'hood anytime soon, they are adding it all over the city, and it's obvious that Xfinity is nervous. They've sent emails and mailings trying to point out why they're better, and they've started trying to lock people into 2 year contracts so they don't go with Google whenever it does show up.
