Like Budget-O's? This Thread May Be For You!
I don't want to make a sweeping generalization of the current Ants populous, but if you are like many people around the world, you are always looking for ways to save money without seeming like a tight-wad.
So this is the thread for any money savings tips you would like to share with others. I included my personal savings estimations if I were to employ these tactics. I encourage you to do the same!
Here are 5 quick ones off the top of my head:
1. Drive slower--$219 dollars. Lowering my highway speed from 75 to 65 will increase my fuel efficiency for 12% or so for my highway mileage. Factoring in a reasonable, albeit slightly optimistic avg gasoline price of 3.15/gallon, I'll definitely save some money.
2. Lower thermostat by 4 degrees--$48. This estimation is based upon current heating bills for winter months only.
3. Switch from brand-name cereal to budget brands--$28. This will be tough to do, the drop-off in quality is enormous in my opinion.
4. Use my dryer sheets twice over--$2. I didn't think that was alot at first, then I calculated that, if I put $2 in a money market account that averages 5% a year, in 25 years it will be worth $6.77. Can't beat that!
5. Taking powdered drink mix to restaurants to mix with water rather than paying for a soda/juice--$100. The savings will be tougher to accumulate here, simply because I more often than not drink beer when out to eat. Unless they come up with some sort of beer powder mix, I'll have to settle for roughly $100 (40 restaurant visits @2.50/soda).
So if I employ all of these strategies I will save myself $397 over the course of the next year!
I can't wait to hear your tips!!!!!!
