I really love this song. It is absolutely beautiful!! I don't have a favorite yet, but I am positive this will at least be in my top three even once the newness of the album has worn off.

My only complaint about this song is the mix while dave is singing. I would prefer to hear the instruments a bit more and dave a bit less. Otherwise it is amazing.

Another song w/ the DMB sound. Just love it. I'm curious as to why these guys need Lillywhite to make beautiful music like this. Whatever it is I just hope he sticks around for future records.

It's kinda funny that people take such offense to saying Broken Things is a better opening to an album than BOWA. Not saying I agree, because I'm probably victim to what I'm about to say, but it really would be interesting to see the reaction if BOWA was released at the same time as Broken Things. My guess would be Broken Things would be the more popular song. Flame away...

I really like Boyd in this song, and the fact that Lillywhite got him to use an acoustic for the album. It brings back that "classic" sound, at least to me.

I agree. His falsetto on the chorus is crystal clear. It has been shakey typically, but not on this one. I also like his vocal phrasing.

Frankly, this whole album is going to let Boyd shine on stage and I cannot wait.
yeah, sounds like they split into 2 violin tracks half way through the solo and it mimics the heavy effects they used to use on Blue Water back in '93. Def. a throw back to BWBF!

Yes it is......to a lot of people. IMO I think BOWA is awesome, but broken things just has this great haunting but undeniably catchy melody in the guitar riff and the vocals. Just because Dave isn't in his early 20's again wowing us with a totally new sound (which Broken Things is also a new sound I think), doesn't mean that he isn't capable of writing a song good enough to be on the Big 3. I think this album is easily as good as the Big3 so far. I got the same feeling listening to it (with headphones) as I did from the first time I heard BTCS, just pure bliss, and its gotten better with every listen (5 or 6 so far).

People on here with their Big3 bias just ruin this site, and ruin new good material for everyone. I think virtually every song on this album is better than
some of the Big3 songs; Crash Into Me and Stay come to mind immediately. My theory is that if this was Dave's first album, and somehow UTTAD was his newest, people would say that NOOO song on UTTAD belongs in the big3 with AFTW, Crash, and BTCS. Not a bash against you b/c you are only comparing opening tracks, but I've seen people on this board saying none of these songs belong in the Big3 discussion. Stop putting those undeniably great albums on such a pedestal and just enjoy the music like normal folks.

I do understand that this is only goes out to a minority of hardcoriest fans on this site who have seen 1billion shows and complain about every setlist post 2004.....most of those people have approximately 50,000+ post also.
