Re: **Official Hershey 2013**

always have gotten grandstand (1st or 2nd section in) but after looking at GA last year im convinced thats the way to go. there was so much space in the back of front ga even if you are the last row its still a better spot than most of the grandstand.

Yeah, GA floor is better than the grandstands.

I'm counting down the days to the hypothetical day they build an amphitheater in Hershey.

It's not awful, but it's not great. The Stadium opened in 1939 so it's age is quite noticeable. They did make it look rather nice for the AHL Outdoor Classic that was in Hershey last month though. There isn't any cover over the field, so when it rains, it pours, and when it gets into the upper 90s, it feels like the surface of Mercury. But given the historic aspect (built by Milton S. Hershey as a Depression-era project), it's a cool venue to go to.

Just booked a room at the Simmons Motel, Suites and Apartments. Got a suite for $120. Has anyone stayed there before? How is it? Is there anything better in the area for a similar price?

...I have never stayed there, but I lived in Hershey for much of my life and I can honestly say the appearance of this place has always been shitty. Reviews are iffy, many bad, few good (i.e. tripadvisor, etc..). It seems to definitely be a "cheap quality for cheap price" type place. Location is good as it'll take you probably 20 mins or so to walk to the venue if that's your style. Overall, just don't expect much, seeing as you're not paying that much either..

So just look at Calder Cups since '99. Still pretty outmatched. Not to mention that one they won in 97.

    Bears > Baby Pens

...Okay well since the Baby Pens have been in the league(1999-present)...the Bears have won 3 Calder Cups, more conference championships, and the same amount of division championships...compared to Wilkes-barre's 0 Calder Cups any further excuses?

Couldn't agree more. This is our "home venue" but we went there only b/c of major Warehouse seniority giving us 1st and 2nd row seats. When they opened the whole field to GA, we were out. I sat in the stands in the early days and they are all pretty far away, even the ones closest to the stage. I will say, I've seen nothing but great DMB shows at Hershey, but as a venue, it's the pits. Oh, and the parking! You have to pay for it, you might end up a mile away and it takes forever to get out of there. The amusement park will be mobbed for sure. Sorry, but there are so many nicer choices.

Alright, so, sorry for asking all the newb-ish questions but I've never been to this venue before, or even been to Hershey at all...is the stadium located inside the amusement park or are they separate venues? And you really have to pay to park? Anyone happen to know how much it costs?

This seems to be an unconventional place to say the least...

Didn't have Warehouse but I would stand in line morning of public onsale at the box office and could still pull seats within 10 rows, loved it. When they went to GA, I was upset. I still go, and will continue. As far as parking goes, I park at Red Robin/Wendy's and walk that stone path outside the Hershey Park fence. Free and easier

If I remember correctly, you have to drive inside the park entrance but before you get all the way to the park, you will see the stadium. Its pretty close to the actual park, easily walking distance.

Separate venues. They share a parking lot. It is a very large complex as their is an amusement park, the stadium, chocolate world, and the giant center hockey arena and the old hockey arena building sits on this property as well. Yes you have to pay to park, cars are like 8-10 bucks, rv's are like 15 bucks.

Three best songs in that set were cut. Horrible.

Would have been awesome if they played Pig to end the show instead of Ants.

I went to see Phish there in 2010. There was a grass field across the street from the stadium that was open for parking. I think it was maybe $15. Awesome spot to park. You can actually spread out a little, enjoy an adult bev, and not feel weird tailgating while families walk through. Plus you're not on concrete.

Not sure if they open up the grass lot anymore though.

Yeah the grass lots are still open. The tailgating scene is pretty good becuz its right across the street from the venue and like I saw someone mention before, there is a lot of room for you to set up shop. Only problem is getting out of the lot after the show, we were stuck in traffic inside the lot for a little more than an hour after the show because from what I remember, there is only 1 dirt road that leads you out of the lot.

Last years set was pretty standard because they cut Pig, Typical and Rapunzel from the set due to a thunderstorm. I would say that Hershey probably gets better sets than Cincinnati.

I've been to Hershey for 6 concerts and still havent figured out the grass lot. We always park there cuz of the above reasons, but 1 show they'll lead us out to the right, the next show they'll lead us out to the left...so every time i try to anticipate it, we go the other way. we were stuck sitting in the car for nearly 2 hrs after the show last year

its amazing how something like that can just ruin your night, especially since we were 50 yards from an entrance that was open before the show and gated afterwards...there was even a traffic light there, no reason not to let cars out that way

    Re: **Official Hershey 2013**

For Phish I was parked near that gate on the right and we were directed to go left. Didn't have to wait 2 hours though to get out of the lot. We were out in maybe 10 minutes. Over the years we've managed to plan ahead for the exit. As soon as you know that song is ending make your way out the door. Even make your way to an easy exit when the encore starts. Will save you the headache of waiting in the car.

This is a good venue to have an excellent chance to get real close to the show. At 5-5:30 they let the Warehouse ticket holders in. At 6:00 the regular (GA Front) get in.
I had Wharehouse tickets and my friends didn't. I got center front about 8 rows back. I turned around and my friends were right behind me! The Front GA holds a lot of people.

Never been to a show at Hershey. How's the venue. I've got a business trip in Baltimore and just might be able to make it in time for show to start.
