It's a bit of a hill while carrying a bike, but certainly walkable.

So, the ride was certainly more advantageous, and Dave clearly didn't have much of an idea where exactly he was. (And to be fair - you can't really see the backside of the hotel from Boathouse Road because of the trees, so it is harder to notice if you only swing into town once a year.)
i was wondering this as well, it's not like he was far. thats real close to the grass lots we tailgate in.
and how do people not know it's him riding his bike & run after him. i guess he could easily get away, but not by sad walking next to his broken bike. hah

Not really true though seeing as it was roughly 4:30-5 when this happened, and the band doesn't go on til 8:15...(regardless of if he were to introduce the opening band or not)

if he didn't show up to introduce the opener we would all have had a panic attack, lets face it.

only real complaint I have about this show is that we didn't get Pig or Typical after they were cut the year before along with Rapunzel... thought we would at least get 1.

Haha thanks a lot. I know I am late responding, I am not a frequent poster on the site, though I should change that lol. Yeah I feel like so many fans are bitter they don't get exactly what they want. The way they've mixed these songs up this tour is what keeps us coming back for more. I know it does for me and I think this has been the best tour since I have been a fan (6 or 7 years now). I thought I was going to only one show this summer and now I am planning my fourth, just gotta get some tickets lol. Anyone going to any of the Virginia shows? Currently on the prowl for some pit tix!

What fantastic fan sites this band has! I go to a concert on Saturday. Read all kinds of stories and experiences from this night. Download the music Tuesday night and listen to the concert again Wednesday. I thank you for Rockinman on this one and all the other tapers over the years who have worked hard to make this happen. Also need to thank DMB for allowing this great opportunity.

I just finished listening to the tape (great job, Rockinman) and changed my mind about this show.

When I left after the show's end I felt a little underwhelmed, mostly for the songs that didn't get played. But listening to the full set again, I think we really got a great show. I got to hear a lot of songs that I had never heard played live before, which always gets me more excited about those songs than before. There was also a ton of energy coming from the band from my point of view, especially from Dave. For me, an excited band is the most critical aspect of a good show.

Focusing on setlists is hard to get away from. DMBAlmanac is fantasic site, especially for DMB fans and/or nerds who like to swim around in data analysis, but if you focus on the data too much, you tend to forget what the shows are all about: just letting loose and enjoying the band's energy.

I hope they return to Hershey next year. I'm down.

Squitiere, you hit the nail on the head. There were a ton of songs that I was hoping to hear that didn't get played. That is certainly disappointing, of course. But the performances of the songs I did hear were fantastic. We don't make the setlists, so all you can really ask for is good execution of what they decide to play. And we got that I think.

The fact that I live in Hershey makes it hard to go to a better venue but next year we are going somewhere else that is for sure. Almost moved to rear GA just so we could see what the heck was going on. Don't know how the warehouse considers that seat Reserved Stands good grief.

Set was slow to start but dave's energy was out of this world. Crowd was pretty ho hum except for the front GA stage right kept the energy up all night.

So next year do I go to Burgettstown or Scranton, which is a better venue? I have never been to Scranton, Burgettstown was at least better than Hershey Stadium.
Great show, quality performances all around. To complain about a set list is like crying you didn't win the lottery. I have a few thoughts about the obvious/repetitive complaints. It sounds like more people are complaining about their seats more so than the show itself, (no screens, no speakers, too much fog, couldn't see/hear this or that.) I've only been listening to DMB for 5 years, but it's ALL I've been listening to for 5 years.
In 2009 a friend and long time DMB fan, after many subtle attempts finally demanded I listen to The Central Park Concert. I told him "that was the best live performance of any kind I had ever heard." I've been to 12 shows since that fateful day and short of not showing up DMB could not disappoint me if they tried. I go to these shows for the same reason every time, to watch, listen, dance, and sing. This venue had no problem accommodating me. I was front GA 45ft from the stage in front of Jeff Coffin. I could see everything great! The sound was spectacular! I had plenty of room to move around, no cartwheels, but not shoulder to shoulder either. Also the people around me were great!

"Its not where but who your with that matters" unless you don't like the setlist....

This is one of my favorite venues, I will never miss a show here!!

Did anybody ever find out why there weren't any projection screens on either side of the stage, nor behind the sound booth?

For the next 30-45 secs while they were holding the signs about 10+ water bottles, cups, etc. went whizzing past my head and hit the signs. I guess people didn't take too kind to it but I still wouldn't have expected that reaction.

I understand why people don't like signs being put up during the show but I mean the band isn't in the middle of a song, they are literally just walking onto the stage I don't see the big deal (especially when Carter and other band members often acknowledge the signs). I know I wouldn't let it bother me if someone had a sign up and I sure as hell wouldn't have been throwing anything to have someone put a sign down before the show even started. In addition, when the show main set/show ended nobody said anything about the signs being up. Don't get that logic but alright.

Anyways, the 4 of us had the last laugh as my sister got a used stick after the main set (that was beat to hell which was pretty cool), and my other friend holding the sign got a stick after the encore when Carter told the cameraman to intentionally pass it to her over the rail.
    I'll be honest here...

I probably would have yelled to put them down and throw stuff at your sign too if I was behind you. They paid to be there and see the whole show, which to me includes seeing the band come out on stage and their interactions between songs. Put yourself in their shoes and think about it that way.

I only a lot of people here will disagree since there is always a lot of talk of making/taking signs but that's my opinion.

Wish I could have appreciated that one as much as i would now. First show regardless is a eye-opening experience.

    Troof.

I remember the weeks leading up to the show I felt like I was somewhat forcibly making myself listen to Busted Stuff as I had a feeling there would be plenty of those tunes played.

I also distinctly remember that i was bummed Crash Into Me wasn't played as it was one of the few songs I knew how to play on guitar at the time . I was young, dumb, and full of cum, as some may say.

As my deep integration into DMB was only a year or so old at that point in time, there was soooo much I didn't know. Here's some things I distinctly remember:

    1. That "I'll Back You Up" tease? First, no clue that things such as "teases" were even tracked or identified. Second No clue it even happened nor would I have even recognized IBYU.
    2. The Stone opener. Was a song I casually knew in listening to BTCS, but never thought much of it. Oh boy...
    3. Most everything on BS i thought was meh.
    4. Thought WAYG was a piece of garbage that was made even more terrible within the encore at my first show. Feelings haven't changed
    5. Felt like somebody that knew his shit when Loving Wings started playing and I identified it as the "new" song Dave had been playing this tour.

Hershey 02. I believe that was my second show ever. Good times. Still in HIGH school then.
Came on the forums to find out if Why I Am is any good as a show closer or if it's just as disappointing in person as on paper. Thought for sure there'd be a bitching thread about it...

I was @ Bristow last week and they dedicated WIA to Leroi, made it passable for the show closer but would not want that again. My group and I were in the car and nearly out of the lot by the songs end. Oh and Drunken Soldier blows too (along with all of AFTW).
