Re: ryan adams.
The first thing anyone should be told about Ryan Adams is that if you like artists loyal to one genre, you might hate him. He does singer/songwriter-soft stuff, folk/gospel rock (touch, feel& lose and tina toledo), alternative country(Jacksonville City Nights and parts of Cold Roses), classic sounding rock, and some of the grittiest rock and roll you'll ever heard in your life (this is it, 1974)
"New York New York" was the tune that somehow ended up on my ipod and got me to buy Gold. The rest of Gold is miles better than that song, but it's probably the best starter cd. The first couple songs on that album are very accessible, and they'll help you get into the rest. Heartbreaker was the third record of his i bought, I immediately loved "To be Young..", "Come Pick Me Up", and "My Winding Wheel". I still can't get into that record much besides "Oh My Sweet Carolina".
Songs that hooked me:
Desire (this was even used on the show House, tomriddle)
So Alive
Come Pick Me Up
Firecracker
Chin up Cheer Up
La Cienega Just Smiled
My Favorite Ryan Songs now:
The Drugs not Working
Meadowlake Street
Cold Roses
Starting to Hurt
Nuclear
