Re: DMB Tour Rumors: 2014

also, based on the last few years, hershey will likely be the last friday in june or the 2nd friday in july. and that hartford in mid july rumor could be true. most years there is one more northeast show in the middle of july before they head elsewhere.

True. But someone on here posted that John Alagia was practically "living with Dave" working on new music. For all we know, he might have a foundation for several songs and the recording process will be quick. Only time will tell.

but even then, maybe things just don't click when the band is in the studio. they don't get inspired and things don't go anywhere. and that could happen for a variety of reasons, including something as simple as a cold bug going around. maybe dave has a handful of songs to work on but not an entire album's worth. so they get that handful done and then pick up after the summer again. just because they're going in doesn't mean anything is coming out with them.

    Yeah - saw that too

This reminded him that he had to give something to Dave's manager. He dug around in his backpack and pulled out a burned CD (I couldn't see what was written on it, but it had a few words scribbled in marker.)

He ended up chatting for another 20 minutes or so. Talked a little about John Mayer, and also Phillip Phillips. Alagia actually came close to producing PP's album, but he turned it down after spending a week in the studio with him. "I might not be your guy," he said, because of PP's similarity to Dave.

The reason we were there was to meet with the guy from Rockbridge who builds Dave's guitars. John Alagia just happened to be there. Got to play a couple of the Rockbridge models, including the same model that Dave plays. They are incredible guitars, surprisingly loud. Brian from Rockbridge was a real cool guy as well, and gracious to host us.

Interesting that it's indoor though. I can't remember the last time they played an indoor arena in the summer. Unless they're planning a fall/winter tour?

I wish they would play more cities like OKC, Wichita, Nashville, KC, etc. mix it up a bit, give me somewhere new to drive to that isn't all the way on the East Coast.

the last time i remember seeing an article like that was when the owner of the islanders arena said he wanted DMB. the band ended up playing there the following fall tour. while the article is nothing more than a wish list, the fact that DMB is a target gives them a fairly good chance of actually playing there. if the owner wants to bring in more and bigger acts, they'll do whatever they can to get a name like DMB there.

There was talk of them pulling the trigger on new charter one in Chicago after last year fell through. Someone mentioned in that thread someone involved in the park district said they're probably be playing there. Can't find the post right now but if it happens ill be there

Last year fall/winter was mostly East Coast other than Chicago and Duluth I think

With the all the indoor venues and shows they've played in the past 5 years during the summer in the Midwest, why do you feel it's unlikely?

The indoor venues that come to mind during the summer tour are Idaho, Minneapolis, Omaha, Kansas City, Wichita, Los Angeles, Tulsa. All within the past 5 years. I guess maybe it's just wishful thinking. Some of those had multiple shows though

The entire landscape of touring is changing. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a lot of venues get skipped this year. With the cost of putting on any one given show (tens of thousands of dollars) it is way more efficient to sell out.

Yes,that's being talked about. Also, some "struggling" ones could be moved to the weekends if amphitheater scheduling allows.

Im hearing a VERY similar schedule to last year. You're looking at Texas to start in early May, SPAC in late May, the CT/MA run in early June, Alpine over 4th of July, the VA shows in late July and Gorge for Labor day. They may pair down on a couple of the venues that have struggled (Im looking at you Scranton, Pittsburgh, St Louis).

    sigh
Frankly this 'similar schedule' every year is quite frustrating for those who are not in the regular cities, or close by.

disappointing. they'd fill up more northeast venues if they split up the venues between the beginning and end of the tour.

while i'm not surprised SPAC could be late May (memorial day weekend) you'd think they would have learned from last years weather nightmare.
