i don't know, maybe it was time for some changes. without a new album, the setlists might look a lot like the 2012 and 2013 summer tour sets, and do we really want that?

i mean, with a band touring so hard, summer after summer after.... maybe it was due time to shake things up a bit.

Dave Matthews Band will be playing two sets a night on their upcoming summer tour. On what they've dubbed "A Very Special Evening With Dave Matthews Band," the group will play career-spanning set lists that will alternate between electric and acoustic music. In some instances, the band will change the configuration of its lineup depending on the song, including performances that will focus on Matthews with guitarist Tim Reynolds as a duo.

I liked the mix-up with Dave/Time and Dave/Trey at the Dave and Friends shows. It was like going to two unique concerts each night.

i think people are mistaking "acoustic" in the sense of D&T, with more of an "unplugged" type thing..If that is the case it will be plenty loud and you wont have issues...at least that is what I am thinking/hoping for

hopefully that will see something like Carter on a percussion steup and still include horns, just mellowed a bit...

I don't doubt the ability to amplify the "acoustic" sets, as I do the crowd to remain (how do I put this?)...... involved. Solos tend to be bathroom breaks, i.e., Tim songs at D&T shows.

I've been known to be a pessimist.
