Yeah it can't hurt to call and ask. I'd check those stores' Facebook pages first because I know my stores do a full list on their website and share a lot of images through social media. If they don't have any info there, I'd call them.

Just beware they may be cranky from tons of other people calling and asking similar questions so be extra nice. Usually, in my experience, they're pretty willing to chat with you about whatever. A few years ago I just outright told the guy I was out of town for the holidays and wanted to give my business to him on RSDBF and he told me when lines start and what kind of crowd to expect.

I called the store I usually visit on RSDBF they did not receive a copy. Another store I called says they had a problem with that particular order and they won't know if they get it until Friday afternoon, so may be a chance there. The store in my hometown says they got more than three but less than fifteen. So if someone grabs one for me and I am able to get one another route it can drop to the next person on the list.

Call ahead. Some clerks are nice and will tell you. Others will say they can't tell you, and some simply won't know.

Yeah distribution has a weird system of sending out their RSD material. It's weird how store owners fill out order forms because they'll over-exaggerate their demand so as to get a better chance to get a few copies. My store told me one time he requested 100 copies of a release and got only one.

I think it was LT 4 that one store shared a picture where they got 20+ and other stores couldn't get a single copy.

It's ridiculous, my store didn't get any at all last year (LT4) but some stores get 20+.

It's a strike through, it drew a line through the name of the person after you (since they found one) until I could remove their name from the list.

Just talked to my store and they don't think they got one. Which means not ONE copy came to Arkansas. What a joke.

I saw one store selling them for $83, which is the lowest I've seen. My understanding is that the MSRP is only $10-ish more than what the actual distributor price is so a lot of stores are marking it up to $90+ to actually make a decent profit on it.

Going to try and hope I am as successful as the Phish NYE release in the spring. If so, I be grabbing a few copies and help some peeps out

Spoke to my local record store, who had about 30 copies of Vol 4, and he said that one distributor was given complete control of the DMB release and that they jacked up shipping charges and they are a pain to deal with, as RSD doesn't regulate the distribution of the albums.

He went on to tell me that he ordered over $6,000 of product from one distributor and it cost a total of $1.25 to ship. Thats total shipping cost. The distributor of the DMB release wants $2 a piece for each record in your order. You can see why shop owners are pissed.

I would expect that some stores paid the price and will have a ton of copies and other didn't and will get none.


Either way, I'll get one somewhere down the road if I don't get it tomorrow.

A buddy of mine just texted me and said his store got 30 of them, but they're limiting people to one copy each.

So, one store gets 30, and my state gets 0. Yeah, that makes sense.

Oh, God. lol I forgot it was a big set. I wonder if it is really worth it or not.. I never got any of the RSD releases, just some of the regular WH ones.. But the ones on WH will probably be what, 50-60? And then tax and shipping will put it at 70+ anyways, maybe even 80... so I'll just support local record stores I guess.

On another note, I thought this was the sort of thing were it was frowned upon to allow mark ups? or is that only for RSD April version?
