Doesn't matter anyway, they are offering 24-bit digital audio of the whole N2 and bonus disc. More than enough to be really excited about with that tracklisting.

I'd hope so, but even then the PCM stereo track would likely have heavy-handed mastering. Although the fidelity of Dolby Digital @ 448 Kbps (5.1) leaves much to be desired, I find I prefer the more natural dynamics it brings to the table with the releases to date.

Look at the nice DR numbers from the 5.1 mixes I've uploaded to the DR database to date - http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/li...ws&album=Dolby

To date even the 24-bit downloads they've offered have the same brickwalling found on the 16-bit releases. I don't think they understand the point behind 24-bit downloads.

Take a look at the difference between Dream Theater's 2013 CD and 24-bit download:

    CD - http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/46399

    24-bit - http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/46804

It's cost vs reward. You're right. Avengers and Jurassic World can have multiple format options, special limited editions, etc. The volume is there.

Live Trax 36 doesn't have that volume. The volume it WILL have doesn't have the numbers to justify two formats. The numbers just aren't there. So you go with the format that will give you the most sales.

Cost vs Reward. The reward on the 24-bit download isn't big. It's not the big seller. But the additional cost is minimal, making the effort worth it.

What numbers did LT28 have? What number should it have had to justify a Blu-ray? What volume WILL LT36 have?

What is the cost percentage increase per disc to go from only DVD to DVD or Blu-ray?

Warehouse only bonus tracks? Wasn't that the deal with LT28 iirc?

And no, better audio on BluRay is not motivation enough to horde discs.
Because maybe you would have bought one before this year...I bought mine in 2011. Got too many discs from forever to get rid of it.

Unless they go out of their way and record a show like Radio City, Brixton etc, I don't see them doing bluray. Also don't expect them to do digital. Talk about Bluray not being widespread enough, digital is less in terms of video. At least when it comes to playing it on your tv.

Agreed. I get excited for these releases and then am sometimes disappointed when we actually hear the mix. LT 35 is definitely a solid release, but the mix is crap.

On paper this looks like an absolutely fantastic release. Both acoustic and electric sets are great and that bonus disc looks great too. We'll see how the mix is, but I see no reason why anyone would complain about this release. The only dud for me is Thank You. Other than that this has me very excited.

I'm excited about that Thank You. I've never heard a crowd chant as loud as the one that brought on that song.

Back to bluray vs dvd and stuff.....They still make dvd's. That shows you how much of a market there still is for those. HD DVD and Bluray came out big time in 2006 and bluray took over all of it a year or two later. So even lets say 2009 is when bluray was THE HD disc format, that's over 6 years and DVD's are still being produced. VHS didn't take that long to kill off. They were gone within a few years after DVD's were mainstream.

Just something about that cover that just does nothing for me. The only version I saw and liked was at the Boston Garden in 2012, but it was more of a bonus after Ants. I suppose I was soured by the Sister - Thank a You encore I got in 2008 in Mansfield.

Surprised they picked another Alpine show, but since I was there I'm definitely pleased! Done and ordered. They almost got me to bite on the foil poster even though I have the show poster, but knowing how the WH ships prints (especially when ordered with other items) I had to pass.

Debating DVD vs. Blu-ray is pretty silly at this point. 4K Blu-rays are coming out within the next 6 months. The death of 1080p Blu-ray is on the horizon (still some years out, but the end can be seen now) and people are still justifying the use of DVD? I haven't watched a DVD at home since about 2008. I guess I'll have to do that now since the band's management is still going cheap, but it's nice to have the full video released anyway.

Is there a bundle for download and shirt? I'm not seeing one, looks like I'll have to get the download and shirt separate.

It's a great tune, and they do a rollicking cover. As an annual Alpine-r, I was glad to see it pop up in the main set, as opposed to closing, where I expected it. N2 overall was just crazy, I've never seen Alpine that empty, but once it got dark, it sounded like it was full, and the crowd steered the show getting 2 unplanned songs played that night. I thought the N1 electric set was flawless, but N2 was special.

First night should have been released and the second should have been selections on the bonus disc. No Typical? So dumb.

Not excited for this release. Lots of duds, plus Dave's voice wasn't great in 2015.

You can the blanket by itself for $74.99 or the blanket plus the CD/DVD/Encore Trax for $75.99

One of those has to be mislabeled right?

Hilly shed some light on this for us, did you input the prices wrong for the WH?

Once again DMB went with the wrong show. Should have went with night one and a bonus disk from night 2

My email from DMB's website said specifically that I was getting "Encore Trax - Alpine Extended - 5 Tracks"

The 3 extra songs are just for Warehouse members. I purchased the CD/DVD and Shirt bundle through the bands website, my friend did it through warehouse. He saw the 3 extra tracks, I didn't. I have a warehouse account too, just didn't notice it in time. Too bad.

So even lets say 2009 is when bluray was THE HD disc format, that's over 6 years and DVD's are still being produced. VHS didn't take that long to kill off. They were gone within a few years after DVD's were mainstream.
The vital difference is that CD, DVD, DVD-Audio, SACD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray are are all 5" optical discs allowing for total backwards compatibility iin players. With the exception of the format yet to be released (we're a few months away from 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray) all those formats are still supported in one form or another.

VHS, Laserdisc, Beta, Cassettes, not so much.
