Anyone seen this yet or has anyone gotten one? Basically, hydro flask has a new pint glass out that is double vacuum wall insulated to keep beer cold longer. I love their stainless steel growlers, but am wondering if the pint glass would be worth $22? Personally, my thoughts on glasses that keep beer colder longer have always been this:
The few beer styles that I tend to drink at colder temperatures (pale ales, ipa's, wheat ales, lagers) are the styles that I also tend to drink quickly so I really wouldn't need a glass that would keep them cold for an extended period of time. Conversely, styles that I tend to drink a bit warmer (50-55 degrees) are stouts, porters, barleywines, and most Belgian styles. It seems to me that a glass that would keep these beers colder longer would pretty much be counter productive, as I tend to enjoy letting those beers warm up even more over the course of 30-60 minutes to experience subtle flavor changes and complexities.
Kind of a weird topic to bring up, but just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are. While on the topic, are you guys particular about serving temps for your beer? Glass styles? I find that the type of glassware used and the serving temp makes a huge difference in how much enjoyment I get out of a beer. Some may call this philosophy a bit "beer snobbish", but I always say that with as much money as I invest into craft beer, I want to get the most enjoyment possible out of each experience...
Cheers,
Scott
