in the north, if you get a snowstorm and there is no mid-winter warm-up (like a week in january that hits the 50s) that snow will be on the ground until the spring. once its down, its usually not going anywhere for a while, so there is no way to play ball in january like there is in the south where its still in the 50s and 60s.

as posted above, fall ball is usually sept-oct. its basically like the high school football season. its usually over before the snow starts, but some years you get a freak early snow storm and ya, the last 2 weeks are just cancelled. then you're not playing ball again for 6 months until the spring. and fall ball itself isn't really going to make that big of a difference. its like an extra 12 games, like 3 months after regular LL ended.
