Re: *** Official San Francisco 2/4/16 ***
The story of getting into the warehouse at Pier 70 from the guy who worked front security all day... people started lining up at 9am, and someone from the venue gave them golden wrist bands to assure they would get in first. Then someone from warehouse showed up and said something along the lines of "ugh nope" and everyone with warehouse ticket was let ahead into the first level of check in. That's when the head of line started swelling into the street. An hour later a second group of warehouse ticket holders was rounded up and moved across the street, yet just before they are let in the golden wristbands pleaded their case again and are let in. Then more warehouse tickets are let in. Then everyone else.
So you make it through the first gate where they tell you if you are allowed in, onto the next line where they wand you and bag search, onto the next where they scan your ticket, onto the next where they give you a fancy wristband, onto the next where they scan your new fancy wristband and you can't enter until the light turns green. If all the checking in isn't enough there is a coat check.
It is quite a walk into the venue and you eventually descend down several sets of poorly lit steel stair cases, which I have to imagine took down more than a few victims. Plenty of pros and cons for sure, but uniqueness factor plays big. Afterwords the cops working out front said for the venue it was the first concert of this size and that they weren't expecting the turnout.
