I watched Way Way Back a couple days ago on HBO. missed the 1st 20 mins of it but it wasn't difficult to figure out. pretty solid movie. Rockwell was great as always, kind of weird seeing Carrel play a jerk

    Re: DMB Relationship Stories

hey Steve, a GREAT example of what we were talking about last week occurred on Thursday but I didnt get a chance to post it...

2 kids on my team- a relatively poor african-american kid, and a white kid with a Dr for a dad (pretty cliched disparity I know)

the black kid is a better talent, the white kid is ok. I ask the white kid if he'll be playing on my legion team and he said no, he's trying out for USA Baseball (a regional amateur Baseball World Cup)...now, this kid is solid, but we're a small school. This kid wouldnt be a starter, and he'd be marginal on the roster at my alma mater and the also the school I used to coach for. He was on the USA team last year though...he didnt tell me this was why, but he did say his dad made a rather larger donation to the program. It costs $200 to try out and another $1500 if you make the team, so add that to the expenses. This kid will be showcased to pro scouts every day in the summer while getting professional instruction.

As for the african-american kid, he can't even afford to play on the legion team, and he'll be playing for a dad-coach team

I thought the kid actor sucked. Wasn't he in The Killing? I know he played Little Shawn in Psych for awhile.

That kind of stuff sucks, but it makes the rich parents feel better.

Lazy scouts, they should be finding that black kid....it would make Bud Selig and Hank Aaron happy.
