Still have to read Death of the Family. Heard it's awesome.
Any other suggestions before I hit the shop next week? Open to anything non-Batman, but he's easily my favorite comic book character. Would love to explore some good Justice League, Superman, and Flash books as well.

LOTDK is an easy comic to jump into because I'm pretty sure it is not written in a linear story arc. The purpose of the series is to collect short, individual, story arcs that don't have to fall into canon. I've heard the Grant Morrison story, Gothic, in issues 6-10 is great as well as the following story, Prey, written by Doug Moench (11-15). Most of these stories aren't too hard to find or expensive when you just get the individual issues.

Now, I almost exclusively order off Amazon because I have free 2-day shipping as a Prime member. Right now, I'm looking at getting Death of the Family, but it's $16 on Amazon. Just wondering if I should wait until I can get over to the shop if it'll save me a few bucks. Being in law school has made me overly conscious about my spending, saving a few bucks every time I buy a collected story could be significant.

In terms of trades, comic shops are gonna sell everything for sticker (cover) price. You'll find much better deals online for those books. Only time I've ever found a TPB or hardcover for a better price in the shop is if the shop has a used section. For individual issues, you're likely to find great prices in shops and if you don't like the price they have listed, they'll likely be willing to negotiate the price.
If you get the opportunity to go to a con at some point, they are the treasure trove of good deals. Just go scour the dollar long-boxes for hours and you can find some great shit in there. Last con I was at, I found original copies of Spawn: Bloodlust, which was a four issue miniseries written by Alan Moore, sitting in the dollar boxes. First issue was even autographed by the artists. They aren't expensive books by any means, but to find four like-new issues of my favorite comic written by my favorite author for a buck each, fuckin eh!
