How did everyone make out today? My record shop had 3 LT5, I was able to get on, but the other two were already claimed. I also picked up Ben Harper and Tenacious D. I think I'll go back later for Les Paul and High Fidelity. Really bummed about no Faith No More. Hopefully that doesn't get delayed until spring RSD.

I'm headed down to my store at 11 when they open. They have a bunch of copies of all the stuff I want, so I'm in no hurry to get in line. Congrats on LT5, at least all of us didn't get screwed.

LT5 was $89.99 at my shop. Got #475.

Also picked up the Queen 12". Considered picking up High Fidelity, but it was an RSD first release so I'm assuming we'll see a bigger run soon. My shop always does discounts on used stuff and I picked up some nice copies of Pink Floyd - Animals and Queen - A Day at the Races. All in all, a good RSD for me. Hope everyone else had a good time and got some good tunes they were looking for!

Certainly not a show that's worth US$90 for a CD-quality vinyl release. The RSD prices have gotten so ridiculous, the NIN release is listing at $85 for an album and three singles, fortunately the original CDs of those are extremely well mastered unlike the digital release of LT5 which is shit.

Considering Red Rocks will likely be $49 or less as a regular release, I'll wait. I think the only other LT I'd probably look for is LT7, for this type of money I'll stick to digital downloads for the rest.

only wanted 3 things this year and was able to grab them - lt5, garbage's s/t ($45 was ridiculous, though), and the cardigans' 'long gone before daylight'.

they still had some lts, and if they are there tomorrow, i can try and hook people up. i probably could have picked up more than one today, but did not want to take away the opportunity from people going to the shop looking for it to miss out.

my live trax # is 000743 and it cost $84.99 if we're doing that again.

    ok, will do.

listening to mine now. of note: all the inner paper sleeves were put in upside down, so that the record could fall out when removing it from the individual sleeve. so be careful when taking them out in case yours are the same.

Only title I was still considering was NIN - Halo I-IV.
    I'm now saying 'fuck it'.
The listing says "Original audio masters" - wtf does that mean? ABSOLUTELY FUCK ALL. For US$85?

If you like NIN and you have ANY of those Halos, find your CD and crank it. How fucking good does that sound? Yep, well-mastered CDs can sound great, and I paid probably $15/each for them 20 years ago.

Want me to buy your vinyl? I demand full transparency on the release...or price it the same as the CD otherwise.

    Peace!

Or you can just wait for the inevitable WH black vinyl release in a few weeks. Hell, they even used a photo of black vinyl advertising the RSD release on the WH website and it specifically states that the RSD one is the "first pressing." I didn't even bother getting up this morning knowing I can get one that way.

Is it just a CD transfer? I knew the LT vinyl sets came from digital sources but I thought they were mastered for vinyl from the higher res digital rather than the same master as the CD versions.

Picked up LT5 #966, $85.98 if you are keeping a list Chad. Also grabbed Animals as Leaders, The Glitch Mob, Ben Harper, Sunn O))), Garden State soundtrack, and because I'm a giant Trent Reznor mark I bought the NIN box. Hoping it sounds good. Ben Harper playing now and it sounds awesome, love Fight For Your Mind.

Not a CD transfer but not high rez either, they are mastered specifically for vinyl from the 16/44.1 mix files, as such they will be the best sounding versions of those 5 LTs thanks to the more open, dynamic mastering.

No doubt LT2 would have been more well-received had they gone back to the multitracks and remixed it first as that's generally considered one of the worst mixes of all.

This was posted over in the DMBc thread https://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/comme...day_leftovers/

He has basically all the RSDBF releases and several copies of each. I ordered my my wishlist from him. He's right down the road (about 2 1/2 hours) from me. Pretty convenient to sleep in, not fight the crowds and all for only $10 extra.

For those still looking for RSDBF items, try these guys tomorrow AM. http://vvinyl.com/shop/index.php?rou...ormation_id=22

They usually have several copies of everything leftover. I bought everything from this last year. Great dealing with them.

I was able to get both the Tenacious D and the SRV releases from him - he was very quick to respond to email and send the invoice via PayPal. No funny business, the invoice was itemized listing each item, tax and shipping. He was very easy to deal with.

I debated whether or not to spring for the SRV at the $40 price tag, but I went ahead and did it. 'Live at the El Mocambo' is one of my favorite concert videos of all time and having that set on vinyl was just too tempting. I really hope it was well done and sounds good. I very rarely will buy, especially at that price point, without knowing source/mastering/pressing info.

The LT sets are definitely a little steep, though that hasn't stopped me from buying them all. I'm curious as to what the WH will price the black vinyl version at, I can't recall off the top of my head what the prior ones were. $89.99?

By comparison, look at the new 'It's Great to be Alive' box set from Drive-By Truckers that I got recently. Limited edition of 2500 copies, and it includes not only the 5 LP set, but also the 3-CD set, 4 mini concert posters, and a big 16 page book with fantastic photos and extensive liner notes, and it only goes for $55-$60.

Not vinyl related but, while I'm really excited to get LT 36 as it was a stellar show and I was there.....WHY THE FUCK ARE WE STILL GETTING DVD's in 2015?! What is it going to take for DMB to put something on Blu-Ray??

I do know that this performance was recorded when it occurred more by happenstance and was never intended to be released. It got put out later once he got popular, but I am guessing the master recording is probably just a 2 or 4 track soundboard from the club, which is really going to limit how much you can clean it up. It's always going to sound somewhat "bootleggy."

Scotti's in New Jersey had 3 copies of LT5 about an hour ago. I think $90 or $95. They ship if anyone's looking
