I'll more than likely be at the Chicago Theater show on July 24th. If I cant do that, I'll try to hit up one of the two Milwaukee shows.

Get your new Bon Iver on by going to the home page and listening to Calgary.

    http://www.boniver.org/

First listen for me. Definitely not like anything on For Emma.

And should not be, because IMO any attempts to be like the first album would most likely just be a bad imitation of it.

Very excited to hear the rest of this album. Calgary is awesome.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I expected, but I'm gonna need to spin it a few more times.

It's definitely more in line with the Blood Bank or even the Volcano Choir material.

I agree that it probably would've been a poor choice to try to recreate the atmosphere of For Emma.

I like the new sound, but I hope there is more acoustic on the album.

I'm thinking there will be, but that it will be used to accentuate the "bigger" sound. At least on "Calgary", he seems to mix together things he's learned and incorporated from For Emma, DeYarmond Edison, and Volcano Choir, which IMO is a good direction.

Justin Vernon's more country/folk sounding band. I'm not a huge fan, but some pretty good tunes came out of it.

Just in reference to its "bigger" sound, as he has only used a bigger, straight-forward full-band sound in DeYarmond Edison and not so much in his other projects.

How do you get the free download? I'm listening to Calgary right now. Does it show up after the songs over?

At the bottom, in a blue box, it says enter your email address.

You give them your email, they send you the link to the song.

Heroin(e) is awesome. I think I just listened to it for the fourth or fifth time since you posted this link. Which is more than I've listened to Calgary so far.
