Got 3 Prop, and will have 2 Regal once I send one more Prop I have out to swap with Kevin.
And 2 Rare which is PLENTY
Damn, nice haul!

If I were you, I'd just hit up some tasting rooms. Try as many stouts, porters, IPA's, and Pale Ales as you can. Then report back on what you like and more importantly what you hate. Then we'd be better able to direct you.

If I remember correctly, my first "craft" beer that I liked was Rogue Dead Guy. Give it a try if you haven't had it. Also if you can, get great lakes Edmund Fitzgerald porter. It's the gold standard in porters. Pick up bell's and/or founders standard stout bottlings if those are available to you.

As for IPA's, good god there are so many, I don't know where to start, and my wife is ready to enjoy some quality time...maybe someone else can pick up on IPA's.

But again first thought would be to go do some tastings at local breweries.

Also, what good bourbons do you currently have? I have quite a stock myself, so we could trade (and throw in a few beers each way so we can stay in this thread )

Left to right: BC Vanilla Rye, 2015 BC Coffee, BC Regal Rye. All draft pours. The Vanilla was my second pour. The coffee is filthy.

Regal is damn tasty....but it doesn't quite measure up to Coffee and Vanilla....we ended up doing some blending as well and I definitely recommend a blend of the coffee and vanilla. We tried blending regal and vanilla and the vanilla just overwhelmed the regal...probably needed less vanilla and more regal on that blend.

Isn't Asheville more of a beer city than Raleigh? Just curious....never been to either place....

Foothills makes an awesome stout called Sexual Chocolate and the bourbon barrel aged version is even better than the regular one. I know that Matt recommended Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald...I'd throw Founders Porter in there as I think that beer is the gold standard for porters. But your best bet is to go to a shop that will sell singles and just start plowing through different styles. Report back here so when you find something you like we can point you towards other beers in the styles you find enjoyable.

last quote on this, i promise....but if you have a bar with that many taps then you should just go there and pick several beers from one style at a time and just sample things. most places will let you do a 3-4oz pour flight.....

and hes in raleigh.....the beer selection is incredible. so many beers to choose from that are probably just as good if not better than the well known higher ranked beers out there, just people dont know about them yet.

My cousin is in that area and sends me stuff all the time. Im lucky to have a source there.

i think that makes the most sense. Hopefully with that many taps they do a good job with rotation and cleaning draft lines. We have a handful of places here that have over 100 on tap and keeping the beer fresh can be problematic....

$7 for a 12oz bottle, so a little pricey. I picked up 3 bottles. Will try one soon. I'm hoping it's 75% as good as BCBCS. I do love the regular Eclipse Breakfast Stout, so I have high hopes.
Halfway through my first of these...it's no BCBCS, but it's really, really good stuff. I definitely recommend picking up a couple bottles if you happen to see it.

Also, FYI for any of you that are getting bourbon county on tap - one year a friend of mine bought 2 growlers of KBS...we rebottled in 12 oz'ers and capped. A year later the beer was still fantastic...no noticeable change from being re-bottled. Oxidation is usually the enemy of beers...but beers aged in oak barrels are already oxidized, so this makes sense. I imagine if you could get a 32oz flip top growler filled with some bourbon county, it would probably keep equally as well.
