as of right now, this is where I stand. I really hope its just not a stamped number being the only difference

Agreed. I just want to own and listen to it, I don't care how many other people have it.

I am a fan of the colored vinyl though, I'll opt for that over regular if possible.

I understand it, but certainly don't subscribe to it. For me it's all about the music.

I don't see why "limited" has to mean (available only for ONE HOUR on RSD!!).

Look at the amazing all analogue pressing of Nirvana's "Nevermind" that ORG did in 2009, it was available for almost four years and now it's $300/pop!

This is the least "only I can have this" DMB RSD release yet. Not only are there 4,000 but if it's in the "first" section there will literally be no difference between what is available on BF and what will be on Amazon at a later date.

When things that are RSD "exclusive" get another pressing, it's always a bit different (i.e. RSD version was colored but reissue is black like the LTs). But the "first" section, we're just getting it early. Maaaybe with a lower number, but who knows?

never said "only I can have this". I just like being able to look at it, while playing it, and see why I posted up hours before hand in front of a store as opposed to waiting for it to pop up online a few weeks later. just little something extra for my hard work and getting up early and putting in the time. that's all

It's a collectors mentality. Completely understand it. Which is why I have the rsd live trax 1-4 and not the warehouse. It's the whole limited special thing. That's why people went crazy for it.

Also, to the people wishing it was colored vinyl, doesn't colored vinyl sound slightly worse than straight black? I feel like I read this somewhere. I'd like it to be colored since it looks so much better on my acryl it platter though haha

Yes black is best followed by translucent colors then solid colors then mixed colors then weird splatters/swirls/etc; but really when you have a good pressing house using virgin vinyl compound you're in pretty good hands with the colors DMB have been using so far which have all been translucent.

However I have both colored and black pressings of LT2, 3 and 4 and they all sound identical to me, which is pretty much why I think the pressing quality is far more imporant.

Classic Records suggested that no coloring compound would yield the best results when they went with their "Clarity Vinyl" series. I think it took them a while to get it right because I've read that the earlier titles (including the Zeppelin Road Case 45rpm box set) could be pretty noisy, but their Peter Gabriel 45rpm Clarity releases from 2009 were some of their last and I have "So" and it's stunning.

Clear would be the native state of virgin vinyl, they add carbon to vinyl to make it black. Here's the original blurb:

Clarity Vinyl is the ultimate vinyl formulation because it contains no carbon black additive, common in vinyl formulas for LPs. Carbon black contains trace metals that become magnetized and cause electrical distortions in cartridges during playback. The result is a smearing of the sound. It's the same reason that cartridge demagnetizers are effective. By taking the carbon black out of the vinyl, we are able to dramatically reduce the distortion and thus bring more clarity to the playback process, providing a more realistic musical experience for the listener. I'm betting they will. All the 2x 10" I've seen/have are. Radiohead Kid A/Amnesiac, Ryan Adams Love is Hell, At the Drive In Vaya off the top of my head.

It depends on how many my local store gets which I won't know until the week of. I always go early, just a matter of how early. I was in line around 3:30AM to get one of 2 LT 2/3 last year. This will be nothing like that but I'll still probably get there around or before 6 no matter what. I really only want a couple things this go and if I can't get it at the store on BF I'm sure I can track one down from a store that will ship after.

On another note, stopped by the shop this weekend and was looking at their 10" section. Everything they had that was 2x10" was in a gatefold, only the singles weren't. There were probably 75 titles. I really feel confident this will be a gatefold release.

I wonder why they won't sell before 8. That is a shitload of copies. They got about 14 copies of LT4 though.
