Live Trax 31 - 6/23/01

6.23.2001 Tweeter Center at the Waterfront - Camden, NJ

On the heels of the Everyday album release, Dave Matthews Band embarked on a four and a half month long tour that featured Butch Taylor on keys, the Lovely Ladies on vocals and a run of almost twenty stadium shows. In late June, DMB brought their big stadium sound to the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront in Camden, New Jersey for three shows. We are happy to announce the standout June 23rd show as the next release in the Live Trax series, which includes an additional disc of highlights from the rest of the weekend.

Highlights of this second night include several rarities. Grace is Gone features the original prelude that had never been heard live and in its entirety by the general public until this night. This release also includes the Live Trax debut of Mother Father as well as a cover of Phish's Waste, and one of the most beautiful solo intros to Satellite that we’ve heard to date.

In addition, we have carefully selected a number of tracks to highlight the shows on June 22nd and 24th in Camden, NJ. This bonus disc features tour showpieces like the Big Eyed Fish > Bartender suite, fan favorites with a different twist (Minarets with the Lovely Ladies guesting) and hidden gems like Lover Lay Down, which might be the answer to "what was LeRoi's greatest moment on stage.”

Please note - Live Trax vol. 31 is available for pre-order and will be released on September 16, 2014. CDs will ship on or around September 12. Downloads will be available on September 16.

Now that they've released GGT and Prelude to Grace, what else will people ask for?

TWEETERTRAX made me lol for some reason. I like that cover art. For some reason it was yellow in my head but the green is nice

Hmm. Interesting. Pretty LL heavy. Kind of makes me think Camden N2 '13 is a long way away, if at all after finally releasing a Camden show. Would have picked a few Camden shows over this but will be very interested to check this one out.

Prelude to Grace debut, Waste and Mother Father are obviously nice rarities.

Good release. Would've preferred the following night with selections from the first two, but cool.

    Re: Live Trax 31 - 6/23/01

Was at 06/22 and 06/23 and am pleasantly surprised they got it right!

I despise everything about the 2001 tour and the Lovely Ladies but 06/23 is a show I still listen to from time to time. Band was definitely on that night and there is a real free-flowing feel that is reminiscent of a 1995 / 1996 DMB show.

And they are right about a bonus disc for the other two nights - some interesting moments but as a whole the shows aren't great. Only thing they are missing is The Stone that closed N1 (would have liked that to close the bonus disc) and a very good Warehouse N1. And has "Funny How Time Slips Away" ever gotten an official release?

A strange, random choice for LT 31 but I also think that they nailed it as far as choice from Camden 2001.

Anyway, I get why it's on there. It was a centerpiece of the 2001 tour (like it or not) and this is the first release from that year since Folsom which was released 12 years ago. Any release from an underrepresented year is fine by me.

Was only at 06/22 and 06/23 (dowloaded 06/24 and listened a lot...tragedy was I missed Recently and didn't get it until Hartford this past July, 13 years later) and for me most 2001 shows are unbearable.

06/23 was always different, can't explain what it is. Good setlist flow, good energy throughout, Dave is constantly exploring chords and that somehow leads to the Prelude after STDH.

    Good show.

I don't think there is a Gorge outside the complication disc they did years ago. I feel like that venue certainly needs a live trax for sure. Unless I'm mistaken on Gorge releases
