It's on a mountain, pretty sweet, pretty much 1 road up and 1 road down

This will be my 3rd date there, small venue, so any seat is a good seat.

scranton is great. small, really intimate. you can't see the venue from outside and you can't see outside once you in. its almost completely surround by trees.

as for a hotel, you'll want to come back from bethel by taking I-84. there is a Holiday Inn in Dunmore which is literally right off the highway. you will have to pass by it to get to any other hotel in the area. its also only 10-15 minutes from the venue in scranton. so that is probably the easiest. and its not all that expensive either. typical HI price.

    i convinced her last year

it's gonna be a little bit harder this year since I won't have an awesome seat to bribe her with... but I think a pit ticket should work

    Here's a detailed seating chart:

    http://www.followdmb.com/images/fordmontage.pdf

Rows A-Q are folding chairs which will be removed for the pit. The rest of the seats behind that are permanent. It's really only 15 rows which isn't bad.

the road coming from the venue is a 2/3 lane winding VERY DARK country road. people do try to walk it. the stupid ones. the police will stop you if they can. the hotels are also about 4 miles away. thats a LONG walk even under good conditions.

a friend of mine works at the Clarion Hotel in Scranton. i mentioned people were looking for hotels for DMB and he said he could probably set up a discounted rate. so for anybody interested, be on the lookout for the info.

I'm only a novice fan of DMB, been trying to go to more shows. Did SPAC in 2008, and did Montage last year.

Been to montage for plenty other shows too, as well as other concerts at many other venues, and I can honestly say I don't know a better tail-gate venue
    then at MM.

You HAVE to get there early so you're not in the lower lot at the baseball field though.

My wife and I took half days to make the 60 minute drive from Binghamton (MM is on the south end of Scranton/Wilkes Barre, near the airport) and got there around 3pm and had GREAT time. However the traffic is HORRIBLE on the way out. My advice would be to take enough food and supplies to hang out for a bit after the show and don't stress about it.

I really want to do Bethel, but consecutive weeknights are tough. Really REALLY want to go to SPAC, but have plans that weekend. Thinking a weekend in Hartford, any thoughts....

just a few corrections. you don't have to get there early to not park at the stadium. i work at the stadium and i've worked there to park concert traffic as well and they split the traffic all day long if the crowd is big enough to warrant it. i worked the jonas brothers concert a few years ago and they started directing cars into the stadium around 4pm. they'd send cars to us for 10 minutes then up the hill for 10 minutes and so on. they do that so the people have time to get on a bus and get up the hill without missing anything. last year for DMB the crowd wasn't as big as it normally is, so they might have started parking at the stadium later, but if its sold out they'll start it in the afternoon.

and actually, Montage is in the MIDDLE of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. coming down 81 south, its after Scranton, but Wilkes-Barre isn't until about 10 miles after the airport. so the airport and pavilion are the middle.

I emailed the warehouse concerning where the "reserved seating" began and they said no seats would be removed and the GA would be in front of the front sections...is there room?

Rows a-Q are definitely not all folding chairs. The first three or four rows are the only folding chairs. after that it is permanent seats.....

there are about 5-6 rows of portable seating in front of the stage. its not really a pit, its more just the beginning of the sections. the standard plastic permanent seats would start like sec 101 row F and A-E would be the portable seats. if the pit is in front of the permanent seats, then they would only have about 5 rows, like most other venues and then reserve seating would start about 15 feet from the stage.

they always make their answers so freaking vague that you can't really get an information out of them. maybe i'll email them with a picture of stubhub's seating chart that shows the pit being 15 rows deep and see if thats true or if the GA is only the first couple rows of portable seats.

i'm not sure about sections 101 and 103 but the center section 102 definitely has more than 5 to 6 rows of folding chairs, i was in the 12th row last year and they were folding chairs in front of me and back a few rows after me. so the "pit" will definitely go back the 15 rows like the seating chart says

i inquired about season tickets this year.. (this should be an above average year in quality for shows on the mountain ) i asked about the pit for DMB and the guy in charge of VIP ticketing said they have alotted 1000 GA pit tickets for the show. A-Q are removable.

couldn't disagree more. with scranton, the later you get to the lots, the quicker it is to get on the road.

i've gone in 2008 and 2009 and have never once had an issue with traffic. however, i can see how there would be an issue with traffic. if you get there early, you could park all the way down at the bottom of the hill of the main lot. and would have to wait for everyone else to leave before you did. no thanks.

Sittin’ in my office with a plate of grilled bacon,
Call my man Dwight just to see what was shakin’
Yo Mike, our town is dope and pretty
So check out how we live in the Electric City!
    They call it Scranton
    What?
    The Electric City
    Scranton
    What?
    The Electric City
    Lazy Scranton the Electric City
They call it that 'cause of the electricity
The city’s laid out from east to west
And our public parks and libraries are truly the best
Call poison control if you’re bit by a spider
But check that it’s covered by your health care provider!
Plenty of space in the parking lot,
The little cars go in the compact spot, spot, spot, spot,
    Snack attack time,
    Don’t lose your head,
We like Cugino’s for the tastey bread,
    They call it Scranton
    What?
    The Electric City
    Scranton
    What?
    The Electric City
    Scranton
    What?
    The Electric City
    Scranton
    What?
    The Electric City
    Scranton…what?
