    this is FANTASTIC

jeff francoeur signed with san diego to play in AAA el paso this season. upon joining the team, they convinced him that one of the pitchers on the team is deaf. this went on for weeks without frenchy realizing anything was amiss. at the end of the video, they show jeff's reaction to watching the video.

10 home runs so far Pirates/Reds, top 7 rain delay. Record for a game is 12.

Re: The 2014 Major League Baseball Season

Anyone know what happens in this scenario as far as instant replay goes?

No force play. Play at the plate, runner avoids the tag and the ump calls him safe. Opposing team challenges and says the runner never touched home plate. Upon review, it is clear that the player was never tagged, however, it is also clear that he never touched home plate.

How is this handled? It's clear the original call is incorrect.

Last night my editor had me go through our photo library and dig up some Mike Trout high school photos. He's a god in this area since we cover his HS and he grew up 20 minutes from me/the paper's office. Pretty awesome seeing this kid playing baseball in high school, and even stumbled upon a basketball picture! Haha

Trout was a pretty solid kid in HS too. Obviously he's bigger now. Here's some pics

This was the combined line of Toronto Blue Jays pitchers in the 8th inning tonight at Minnesota:

    1.0 IP
    1 H
    6 R
    6 ER
    8 BB
    1 K
    57 pitches (23 strikes)
    3 wild pitches
    54.00 ERA

That was the first time since 1996 a team has issued 8 walks in the same inning.

What's better is that they had a 5-3 lead entering that inning. The finished the inning with a 9-5 deficit.

Ike Davis traded to the Pirates for Zack Thornton and a PTBNL.

Sad to see Ike go, he'll probably hit 40 for the Pirates this year.

Cole should have been nowhere near that play.

I say he's more out of line than Gomez.

Not to mention, McCutcheon and Martin did the EXACT same thing in previous games in this very series.

Cole should have been nowhere near 3rd base, h2p.

His job there is to back up home plate.

He should have been nowhere near that play.

Instead he went and jawed at the guy who did the same exact thing players in his own team were doing all series long.
