Just got back from Billy Joel. Holy crap that was a fun concert. He mixed in a couple nice tributes to Bowie (Rebel Rebel) and Frey (Desperado and Take It Easy), played some Zeppelin (Whole Lotta Love & Rock 'n Roll), and got around to all his hits. His backing band is incredible. Wish he was here another night!

Edit: And for 66, his voice sounds really good. I mean REALLY good.

Watch whatever site originally sold tickets. I pulled a pair of tickets for sold out umphreys all this week, especially day of. There's always tickets available for sold out shows...

I'm gonna check the secondary market, but the chances of the venue releasing more tickets are slim. The place is really small and has no GA. There are a couple scattered singles, but I need two together. Markup on the cheap seats right now is 100%, I'm gonna see if that comes down a bit.

I never thought I would find a pair for UM at the tiny beacon theatre (tiny for NYC by far), but they were there. don't give up hope...constantly check the site that originally sold them..seems to be occurring more frequently

Apparently Modest Mouse and Brand New will be alternating who opens and who closes throughout their tour. What the fuck is that? Who the fuck is Brand New?


Thankfully it looks like MM is closing the Austin show.

There's a handful of Brand New stuff I like, try 'the quiet things that no one ever knows' and 'okay I believe you but my tommy gun doesn't'.

However I saw them at Boston Calling music festival a year or 2 ago and I was looking fwd to it since I like a few songs and I thought they were terrible.

Now live is another question. all depends on the mood Jesse is in. Most of the shows i've been to they have been great and on point. A handful have been less than steller. Didn't go to Boston Calling and not going to this Modest Mouse tour.

Top 5 wow! I definitely enjoy some of their stuff but Boston Calling, it seemed like he was just screaming the whole time. I was surprised because usually when I see a band live it makes me like them even more not less. I'll still listen to their music but I don't forsee attending another show, but maybe it was just an off night like you said they have occasionally. Happens to the best of em
