Re: 2015 Predictions/Hopes

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot also let's do some You Never Know this year. I recently realized again how much I like the song, and I can't believe I left it out of my personal rotation for so long.

In about 80+ shows, I've heard LS once--12 years ago, so don't feel bad.

I try not to even think about it anymore, because it's like chasing big foot.

The way my luck is--I'll probably end up seeing it in the acoustic set, which, while okay, just wouldn't be quite the same for me. That's just one of the songs that you need to hear full-band, at least in my opinion.

EDIT: sorry, I see the acoustic vs. electric topic has been addressed previous to my post.

Predictions: new songs, not much else.

Hope: Start doing intro-fakes a la Jimi/SMTS (LT14) with songs we're really tired of. Yeah, that's it, fake Jimi into Stone. Fake Satellite into Last Stop. Fake If Only into Rapunzel. Fake PM into Too Much. Mix it up.

It'd be cool but they'd fuck that up too. Would probably fake last stop into dream girl

Predicts: The acoustic set will be heavy on classics and covers. The electric set will be primarily the new record. Add in a Two Step or Ants and that will be the typical show.

It has turned into their power song, but it wasn't always. Just listen to Red Rocks '95, for example. A lot of people (myself included) like the old way better, or at least had grown tired of the new way. That's why I liked the acoustic version so much last year.

    Predictions:
    electric/electric sets
better tour overall than summer 2014 (universally agreed upon here at Ants)
bust out a couple of songs from the new album before its released

    Hopes:
    electric/electric sets
to not hear Seven or Shake Me at a show this year
Boyd has a consistently good tour

If you saw it 12 years ago you'll hate it now.

I'd rather see it in the acoustic set because that way the riff is played with horns rather than Tim shredding it. There are a few songs from BTCS that need more horn and less Tim, DDTW , Last Stop and Halloween, for sure. We all seem to forget that Halloween should stay with that eerie riff that comes from Boyd, not an electric guitar....

    Fuck...

That would certainly keep things interesting. I'd actually get excited hearing the opening notes of Jimi Thing if I knew the band was constantly faking it into something else.

    Predictions:
    - Electric/electric sets, about 10 songs a piece + encore, no specific "theme" to either set
    - Boyd will continue to be muted and sound rough more often than good
    - New album songs sprinkled throughout the tour
    - At least one major liberation
    - Openers/closers will inevitably become predictable

    Hopes:
    - Boyd gets his groove back
    - Song liberations/returns include: LITHOG, Last Stop, Hello Again
    - There is some unique theme to each of the sets
    - Song variety between shows within reasonable driving distance (i.e.- Tampa to WPB)
    - NO Lovely Ladies

Yeah, it would definitely be interesting, until it becomes predictable, and the band does it 32 times over the course of the tour. Love the Jimi Thing (fake) -> So Much To Say on LT14 as well, really dig what Carter and Tim are doing along with Dave during the intro of So Much To Say. And the Everyday (fake) -> Halloween is another really good one.

32/47 is less than one per show....no problem there.

The whole concept is to mix things up so much that it's not predictable. That's the whole point, find ways to introduce variety!

Only thing I want is if the Acoustic set happens, that Bartender returns to its electric form! Damn, I missed that song with the full band last year.

I'm just hoping for a great show in Atlanta on May 30. Last year there was no Minarets (one of my favorites), no Typical Situation, no You & Me (I know, overplayed, but my girlfriend loves that one and I'd like her to hear it), and no really rare songs played at Aaron's last year, so hopefully there'll be a pretty good show. Always hoping for the Last Stop and Shotgun!

One of the best acoustic sets though....

They liberated PFWYG and IBYU in the acoustic set, also only 4 AFTW and BW songs during that show. The Shake Me encore obviously sucks but I thought ATL was a pretty good show last year.
