I got married on 07.25.08, why is that such a great date in addition to my getting married? 07.25.01, one of the best Bartender performances of all time with Jeff Coffin guesting. 07.25.98, one of the best Dreaming Tree performances of all time with Greg Howard guesting.

Whenever I hear someone say a particular year in basically any context, I'll think what kind of a year it was for the band.

Yeah. Weird to think that when I made less money, I went to more shows. Life gets in the way, which isn't bad, just reality. Some people are still able to do it but I couldn't make it work. Any extra money goes towards family trips and things now. Disney at Christmas and Alaska cruise in May.

I sometimes put DMB to dates. I've typed them up so many times burning CD's over the years or adding songs to my iTunes that it's easy to remember dates of shows.

8/19 though....damn. 8/20 is almost more of the day for me because I didn't find out until that morning when I got to work. Pre iPod Touch or smartphone days for me so didn't check facebook or email until I got to work. Thanks a lot John....off to listen to Bartender from that show.

    .
Same here. I flew to Chicago by myself at age 17 with barely any money just to go to alpine. I haven't left the state for a show since but I'm doing an Alaska cruise in two weeks! I could have easily gone to shows instead for a quarter of the price. Life is weird that way.

Have fun, you won't regret it. I went on one 4 years ago and it was amazing. That's why I'm planning on going back next year. Most breathtaking views I've ever seen.

I figured that was your reason, and I can see it...I was at alpine the past two times and Chicago shows this year. I think, however, the DMB shows were fun because it was America's birthday. I was cheering harder for America than I was for DMB this year

    thanks for sharing man

Sometimes when people bring up specific dates, it reminds me of a show I've been to. But no, it hasn't ruined my life. The most shows I've seen in a year were 4 and they were at 2 venues, and I usually only see 2 shows a year.

Vernon Downs was my first DMB show. It was in Vernon, NY though, not Rome. I'm from Rome and that was where Woodstock '99 was. DMB did play Woodstock also but it was a year later.

It has been driving me nuts all day long why today, July 29, is a significant date for me. All day I've been wondering: was I supposed to do something today? Do I have a deadline? Is it someone's birthday? Was I supposed to get married today?

Upon further analysis, it turns out that today sticks out to me because it featured my favorite version of Water Into Wine in Columbus, Ohio a few years ago on this day. Because of this stupid band, an entire day of the calendar year is now associated with not only a random-ass unreleased song but also Ohio.

Which then got me thinking: what other days of the summer do this to me? Some dates that immediately come to mind every summer are 6/6 (Kill the King debut), 6/10 (Shotgun debut), 7/16 (my favorite version of Crazy Easy), 9/14 (my first show, Va Beach 2003), and 9/22 (JPJ 2006!).

These dates will likely follow me for the rest of my life. As noted DMB fanatics, do you guys experience the same thing or have I lost it?

Also, this title is way tongue-in-cheek and I wouldn't change a thing
I was at that Columbus show! I need to get a recording, because I really don't remember much about the actual performance. I just remember Crew Stadium was a terrible venue and was only 2/3 full, the crowd was dead, my wife was in a bad mood, and we went with my friend and his new girlfriend (later wife), and she was (still is) SUPER awkward to be around. It was then that I realized that Columbus would no longer be a regular stop for the band, much to my dismay.

As far as DMB anniversaries go, I'm always thinking things like "Ok, it's June 19th... this was my first DMB show back in 2000!" I love how each concert has it's own little set of circumstances and memories that went along with it.

It's really funny, this happens to me for shows I didn't even attend! August 4 reminds me of the first bootleg tape I ever heard, from 8/4/92. Another is April 18. Every year on that date I think, "oh this was the Roanoke 98 show that kicked off the btcs material. And of course, I think of Roi whenever I look at a clock and it's 8:19.
