It has been driving me nuts all day long why today, July 29, is a significant date for me. All day I've been wondering: was I supposed to do something today? Do I have a deadline? Is it someone's birthday? Was I supposed to get married today?
Upon further analysis, it turns out that today sticks out to me because it featured my favorite version of Water Into Wine in Columbus, Ohio a few years ago on this day. Because of this stupid band, an entire day of the calendar year is now associated with not only a random-ass unreleased song but also Ohio.
Which then got me thinking: what other days of the summer do this to me? Some dates that immediately come to mind every summer are 6/6 (Kill the King debut), 6/10 (Shotgun debut), 7/16 (my favorite version of Crazy Easy), 9/14 (my first show, Va Beach 2003), and 9/22 (JPJ 2006!).
These dates will likely follow me for the rest of my life. As noted DMB fanatics, do you guys experience the same thing or have I lost it?
Also, this title is way tongue-in-cheek and I wouldn't change a thing

I was at that Columbus show! I need to get a recording, because I really don't remember much about the actual performance. I just remember Crew Stadium was a terrible venue and was only 2/3 full, the crowd was dead, my wife was in a bad mood, and we went with my friend and his new girlfriend (later wife), and she was (still is) SUPER awkward to be around. It was then that I realized that Columbus would no longer be a regular stop for the band, much to my dismay.
As far as DMB anniversaries go, I'm always thinking things like "Ok, it's June 19th... this was my first DMB show back in 2000!" I love how each concert has it's own little set of circumstances and memories that went along with it.
