I can see them maybe doing a box set for the weekend, I know they released the 02 box set but it's been a long time. I think the gorge is due for a release.

Well, it depends on how good the shows are. They're not going to release it solely based on the fact that it's the 50th show

Is that a fact? I would agree they probably won't. Before last year I would have said the lovely ladies probably won't appear again either. But they did.

I love how people dig their feet into the ground about certain topics in these forums. Like they have inside information or something.

I thought you were going to say: "Before last year I would've agreed that they'd only release the shows if they were good... then they released Berkeley."

It's been a while since the Gorge had a real amazing weekend. So not really due for a release no.

Well I would surely hope they don't release a show just on that basis. It should at least be good...i don't see them doing a second Gorge box set either

I disagree with you completely, I think something maybe coming, they're promoting it with the fly away contest and let's not kid ourselves the band knows how many shows they've done there. It's been 13 years since the 02 box set, they are due.

You maybe right but beings the Sunday show is the 50th I think something may happen. Maybe not s box set, maybe they just release the show it self playing there 50 times is quite an accomplishment so I think something maybe in the cards.

I know people hate the Phish comparisons but this is from the phish set list page....

"He also acknowledged that this was the band's 17th show at Alpine and that the following day would be the 19th anniversary of their first appearance (August 10, 1996)."

Pretty crazy to think that this thread is created bc no one is even sure that Dave and management would even care enough to know/ do anything about their 50th show at one of the greatest venues in the country if not world. And here we have Trey mentioning a mere 17th show. Just shows an appreciation and knowledge of a fan base to think that's worth mentioning and here we have warranted and reasonable speculation that an occasion like this may not even get a comment.

    Yikes

I don't see this happening, but I would be down to see them prove me wrong. They'd have to play a longer show, or shorten the electric set. I still like the way you think.

Of course people would. They'd complain about predictability and that they should have written out an original set instead of copying one from before.

Perhaps a few trolls. But seriously. Consciencely recreating the first set played would be cool as hell. Not lazy in the slightest.

It's an impressive milestone, but I wouldn't expect too much more than, at most, slight acknowledgement by the band. Sets will be similar to what we've seen all year, which in my opinion, have been terrific.

I hope not. I love that song, but it needs Carter's percussion/drumming. Would be kinda boring as a Dave solo, imo.

Also, onetwothree, I think Friday is the band's 50th show, hopefully they figure that out by then. Seems like they have, but we'll see. Though I guess I don't really care, as long as they play some good music.

No, I agree. Although, if he decides to skip an acoustic set opening solo, and goes straight for full band, it's a possibility. I don't see it happening tho. Frankly, I'd hate to miss LYD or any of the other possibly great solo songs that have been played this year, seeing as how we heard LRB and TMTT as solo openers last year.

In light of this convo, pretty interesting image from the band's twitter that (I guess) is showing Dave looking at the previous two years' sets to figure out Gorge 2011 Caravan N1.
