2015 Tour Audio

I couldn't really find a thread for this, so I figured I would make a new one.

This would also be a good place to discuss new tapes that went up, as well as a place to give props to the tapers this year.

I'll also be posting individual audio file downloads in this thread like I did last year with the acoustic/electric highlights for those who aren't familiar with torrents/FLAC. Some tapers ask for their tapes not to be converted/shared in MP3 format so when applicable permission was granted from the taper.

    2015 Tour Audio Highlights
To help people out who don't like messing with torrents, last year I did a compilation of some of the standouts and most discussed songs (good and bad) so people could listen to them. I also include songs that are played for the first time in the acoustic set. As always, this was done with permission from the tapers that request their content not be put into MP3 format - so a thank you to them for letting me do this and a big thank you to them for all they do for the DMB community. Credit is given to each taper in the ID3 tag.

LIOG from last night sounds great. It's slowed down quite a bit, which I am digging. I'm about half way through and the entire band sounds great. Boyd has killed it thus far.

    Plus, the reprise

I think the last few times I've heard LIOG it was the truncated version, so I was stoked to hear the reprise again.

Great thread Chad, nice to have a place for those who arent active torrent users to listen to these live rips!

Quick story - I started my obsession with live music in 8th grade ('91), I had a few good friends who had older siblings who were big in the Dead scene, used to have hundreds of well documented cassette tapes all over their living room floor, making dubs on a dual player to send off in the mail or give to other friends. After listening to some of the live recordings, and enjoying the music, I thought it was the coolest thing! A band allowing fans to record all of their shows, and sharing it with like minded people. I jumped in and never stopped!

It is really cool to be able to listen to a show that you weren't able to attend, or listening to one you went to and reliving the experience in your mind. I have known a few casual tapers over the years, and it can be a pain in the ass! Travel between shows, lugging around gear, dealing with uninformed staff, obnoxious crowd members, getting your tape out to the public. Just my experience, but all of the tapers I've ever met in person, have always come across as very selfless, genuinely just helping out the community.

So a giant thanks to the tapers, both current and past...it is very much appreciated!

They're great - we've seen some great quality tapes the past several years and the turnaround times have been very, very fast. We're very fortunate to have such a great taping community that makes all this possible.

Read in the dtree comments that Dean was having wifi issues at a hotel, had to get to Bristow(?), and at some point (before or after) stopped at a truck stop and bought wifi time just to try and get the tape uploaded. They could all just wait till they get home from a tour stretch to upload, but thats how some of these guys are!

Everyday thats passed since last Wednesday my stomach has sank just a little bit more. I know there is a two week rule, but judging by the past (Memphis 08') I'm assuming that the only mics I saw in the air at the show were the band's and not a taper's.

need an influx of new tapers
thru June 3 there will probably be 6 shows not taped
looks like the rest of the tour is covered minus NV but over half those shows only have 1 taper

I saw two mics in front of 206, and someone else saw one in front of 201. Apparently someone working the venue said they were crew mics, not taper mics. I think it's safe to say they probably don't know what they're talking about, although, the mics that i saw were both assembled to the railing and they looked very similar.

yeah, i agree. Maybe they meant band mics? Have they ever put mics out to pick up crowd noise like that? If so, I'm unaware.

If so, it was a poor idea. There were 2 in front of 206 and one in the VIP box directly below. Everytime I looked down, the drunk fools in the box were turning around and yelling into the mic and giggling about it.

That is concerning that they are probably not taper mics d then. Tapers wouldn't put their mics that low, right? If a source doesn't pop up for this show, that'll be really disappointing.

Not necessarily. I know I remember the Raleigh tapers could only raise the mics to eye level. And someone mentioned seeing something in 201.

I hope something comes out, since it was my first Stone, but I guess if worst comes to worst there's nothing on there I really can't live without.

crew has mics all over the venue for various reasons
there's always a set at the board and then others scattered across the venue
if you see something clamped to a rail it's most likely that's a crew mic
