yeah the one note ones, that I can see being a problem. and yeah I could see "goes nowhere" being used to describe that. LIOG from RCMH a good example of that.

the end of the Dreaming Tree is powerful as fuck, second time listening i notice the great interplay between all the members, Greg included. Fantastic, def will be a go-to version from now on. I love how i can find favorite versions of songs this late in the game.

I think many who don't know how Chapman Stick sounds will perhaps confuse what Greg is doing in Dreaming Tree with something Tim could do or even Fonz.

If you listen to the right channel, Greg's contributions are very easy to spot, particularly if you then listen to a Dreaming Tree without him. Once you know what he's doing, listen to the studio version and you'll hear just how much he adds to the song.

In the jam for the final few mins of 10.31.98 Greg is the second most prominent sound to Carter to my ears...but I'm very familiar with the Chapman Stick and have been pining for this show for 10+ years.

As far as LT39 goes, I had a good listen to Dreaming Tree over the week-end cranked nice and loud on my main system, I couldn't think of anything wrong to say...it sounds amazing. I absolutely love those delicate bows Boyd is doing right as they enter "take me back" for the first time, sounds so good.

If the rest of the show sounds as good sonically as Dreaming Tree I'll be very happy.

I upgraded my speakers around this time last year, went from Canadian Paradigm Monitor 11v4s (CDN$1399/pair) to UK Acoustic Energy AElite 3 (CDN$2700/pair) - although their footprint is notably smaller they are much more refined. I paid nowhere near the list price for them!

Yeah, this DT release jumps right to the best of all time. I find what Greg is doing very easy to distinguish b/c it's noticeably absent from all other live version.

beautifully put. i had to have the chapman stick pointed out to me, i def thought that was Tim/fonz on first listen. Sometimes the contribution is subtle, and sometimes it's not.

man. the breathing room of the instruments on this release is great. louder the better!

I was lucky enough that my aunt wanted my uncle to get rid of his 4 giant Klipsch floor speakers a few years back. They are from around the mid/late 90's but damn do they still sound incredible.

I didn't think it was that foreign a concept. The Two Step solo, for instance, just doesn't really reach any point of real excitement for me. In my opinion it "goes nowhere", as in it basically starts at one level and stays there. Listen to Two Step from Mansfield 6/25/08 (most criminally underlooked version of this song) and you'll experience a guitar solo that will explain what it means to "go somewhere". His solos aren't bad on LT 39, but from what I heard they were kind of boring. I'm not a hater of Tim, so I don't mind an intense solo.

Holy smokes, that Dreaming Tree...Finally heard it. I think that should immediately go up as one of the band's best performances of a song. Carter............

Had to revisit those sets bc off the top of my head I have LT1 at the top of my list as best release by any band ever. I have LT1 down as a 12, 11/30/98 at an 8, and Chicago at a 10. LT1 has the flow factor. #41 through the end of the show solidify it for me. Granted, 11/30/98 has somewhat better songs, but the flow is missing. I don't trust my ratings, I don't remember when I rated them so I may have to check that.
