Season 2 Preview:
So, we know Aaron and the others somehow gain access to the missile control system; We don't know if they're successful. Rachel seems to have interesting relationships with everyone; including a possible old flame or co-worker who is at odds with Miles. Monroe evidently loses power; we seem him in some type of fight club, looking rough. The nukes were launched from the Wastelands and Plains Nation, possibly Texas Republic or California, two of those areas that have little to no government, while Texas Republic may be aligned with, presumably, Bush II or whoever we saw at Gitmo, and intended to destroy Atlanta (Capital of Georgia Republic) and Philly (Monroe Rep). We don't see any more Atlanta or Philly stuff. We do see Neville and Jason together, in apparant rebel uniforms, looking worse for wear, being lectured by a "Secretary" of the United States who claims the government is legitimate. There are two love triangles, Miles, Rachel, and whoever, and Charlie, Jason, and some blonde guy who claims to have seen Monroe. Aaron is mortally wounded, so unless Rachel pulls that nanodevice out of her that she used to heal her broken leg, which would be to her detriment, he's probably dead. Presumably, the group has reached the relative safety of a possible rebel town with some semblance of order (A Sheriff) and we can assume it's somewhere near "The Tower." And they're facing an external threat which could be the United States, warlords/rivals, or what have you...but Miles seems to be familiar. It's all looking pretty interesting. If you pay attention, there is a clear absence of power as well, so that appears to have been turned back off.
I think much of Season 2 will revolve around the U.S. government reasserting control either by mastering the power or possessing pendants/amplifiers or simply coming out of hiding. And they were behind the possible nuke attacks on Philly and ATL, being their largest threats to their legitimacy. Randall seems true to his original intention, keep the power off to keep the weapons off, but only after he possible decimate the biggest threats to becoming another warmongering government.
I think it will be a "hunkered down" situation like Jericho, where most of the characters, especially the family, makes a stand in the above town, with Monroe on his own, and possibly Neville and Jason as well, after what we saw with the love triangle. Neville, whereever his loyalties lie, may have no Monroe Republic to return to and no Atlanta, if the bombs hit.
